Born and raised in the Miles City area, Jon and Marlys (Kolka) graduated from Custer County High School in Miles City, and Miles Community College.  Jon attended Mount Hood College of Mortuary Science where he received his degree in Mortuary Science.  Jon and Marlys began their careers in the funeral industry when they purchased chapels in Baker and Ekalaka, MT in 1981.  They lived in the Baker community for twenty years.  In December of 2000, Jon and Marlys purchased the Mischel-Olson Chapel (Now Stevenson Funeral Home) in Dickinson where they have made their home and have enjoyed becoming involved in the community.  In January of 2004, they opened a Funeral Chapel in Killdeer.  In January of 2007, Stevenson-Mischel-Olson merged with Price Murphy Funeral Home.  Jon and Marlys have two sons, Nic and Brandon, and one granddaughter, Sadie.  Nic joined the family business and also lives in Dickinson, while Brandon is currently in his final year at West Point. Jon and Marlys have enjoyed living in Dickinson and are grateful for the opportunity to serve families in Southwestern North Dakota.

Nic and Terri Stevenson>

Nic Stevenson has been around the funeral business his entire life.  He grew up in Baker, MT, where his family (Jon & Marlys, younger brother Brandon) and he lived above the funeral home.  Nic began working at the funeral home at an early age, washing cars, mowing lawns, shoveling sidewalks, and caring for the horses. He graduated from Baker High School and went on to play football at Montana State in Bozeman, where he graduated with a family and consumer sciences degree.  In 2003, Nic married Theresa Ann Stanton in Baker.  Terri grew up in Baker and also graduated from Baker High School and Montana State with a degree in family and consumer sciences.  After he received his undergraduate degree, Nic attended the Mount Hood College of Mortuary Science in Portland, OR, where he graduated in 2005.  Nic and Terri returned to Dickinson, where they both joined Jon and Marlys in the family business.  Nic is a director at the funeral home and Terri is the graphic design specialist.  Nic and Terri are very active in their church, and they love going to various local sporting events. Nic is an officer at the Dickinson Elks Lodge and serves on the Montana/North Dakota Badlands Bowl committee.  Terri teaches group fitness classes at the West River Community Center and especially enjoys the cycling and Silver Sneakers classes.  They have two children:  Sadie Marie (4) and Nathan Jon (2). Nic and Terri feel very blessed to be a part of the Dickinson community and Stevenson Funeral Home in order to serve the families of the area in their time of need.

Tom & Nona

Tom Muckle, Director

Tom A. Muckle was born and raised at Sentinel Butte, ND and graduated from Beach High School. Tom spent 20 years in Law Enforcement in eastern Montana until his retirement in 2004.  He graduated from Arapahoe Community College in Littleton, CO in December 2006 with a degree in Mortuary Science.  Tom became a member of the “Stevenson Family” in June 2005. Tom and his wife Nona are the proud parents of three sons, two daughters and eight grandchildren.  Tom and Nona are active members at Lakeview Baptist Church in Baker.  Tom stays actively involved in his community. He is a member of the Baker Volunteer Fire Department, a National Registered EMT-B with the Maramrth, ND Ambulance Service, and has been a Deputy County Coroner since 1986.  Tom continues to serve as a Deputy Fallon County Coroner.  In December 2006, Tom was appointed Fallon County Rural Fire Chief.  Tom is a past board member and vice-president of the Montana Sheriff’s and Peace Officers Association.  In his spare time, Tom enjoys hunting, fishing, attempting to play golf and traveling with Nona to the Black Hills and Big Horns.

Doug
Doug Murphy, Director>

Doug Murphy, a native of Dickinson, graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1988 with a BS in Mortuary Science.  He owned and operated Price-Murphy Funeral Home from 1992 until 2007.  Doug sold the funeral home to Jon and Marlys Stevenson and is currently working on his MBA.  He is also involved in Rotary International, working with school building projects in Guatemala.  Doug is still affiliated with Stevenson Funeral Home and works as needed.
