Albert passed away Monday, September 26, 2022 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson.

Albert was born on August 9, 1932, to Steve and Margaret (Zentner) Metz on the family homestead south of South Heart. He was raised and educated in South Heart. Albert married Sharon Moe on June 8, 1974 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Glenwood City, Wisconsin. They made their home in Dickinson. Albert worked in road construction, carpentry, and at Schnell’s Feedlot. He went to bricklayer’s school in 1959 and through the years he worked for Alfred Volesky Masonry, Jack Stryle Masonry, and Olheiser Masonry. He continued to do masonry work until his retirement. Albert was a self-taught musician, playing banjo and guitar. He played in a band with his brothers, John and Harvey. Albert was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, St. Anthony’s club, and International Bricklayer’s Union 12785. He enjoyed many hobbies: drinking coffee with his buddies, going to auctions, coin collecting, pen collecting, gardening, canning, and when in season, making his special rhubarb wine. Albert will be forever missed by his wife, Sharon; nieces and caregivers, Edie (Dennis) Pope and Shirleen Bleth; siblings, Harvey (Joy) Metz, Thomas (Dianne) Metz, Brother Howard Metz CSE, Agnes Custer, Mildred Robison, Alice Pojorlie, and Linda (Marty) Buzalsky; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brothers, Adolph and James; brothers, John and Robert; sisters, Bernice, Janice, and Eileen.

Let us say farewell to a wonderful man. He will be remembered as a good husband, brother, uncle, and friend to all of us and he will be dearly missed.
