Audrey passed away Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Belle Estate, Belle Fourche, SD.
Audrey was born October 18, 1933 at her grandparent’s home on Snow Creek in the Long Pines, near Mill Iron, MT. She was the oldest girl in a family of twelve to parents Carolyn (Sandy) and Lee Baier. Her Dad, Lee Baier was known for his gift to gab and Audrey was lucky enough to get some of that same gift handed down to her. With a family of twelve, competition was constant, especially with three older brothers. Anyone who knew her will tell you she was a tomboy from the start. A chance to beat the boys in anything was her goal and she’d give it all her heart. Audrey was very competitive in any activity she took on, especially golf. Mowing was one of her highlights in the summer and even last year at 90 years old she had to get out to mow because nobody else could do it right on her riding mower. The family moved to several different locations when Audrey was young but she went to Camp Crook grade school through the 8th grade. In 1949 she started high school in Buffalo along with her sister Shirley. They worked at the cafe to pay for their room and board. Audrey married Richard (Dick) Cordell on October 8th, 1955 and they had five children. Debbie, Janice, David, Richie and Tammy. They lived in Rapid City following their marriage until 1959 when they moved to the compressor plant north of Belle Fourche. They then moved to Camp Crook in 1967. Even though she lived through some hard times she always said she lived a good, long life.
Audrey is survived by children, Debbie (Joe) Long, Janice Harbach, Richie Cordell, and Tammy (Darren); eight Grandchildren, Jason Long, Chris (Colleen) Long, Jackie (Corey) McCartan, Jessy Harbach, Chad (Amanda) Cordell, Lee (Alex) Cordell, Gavin (Kara) Cordell, Megan (Cody) Larsen; 13 great-grandchildren, KayLea Long, Luke Long, Callan Long, Richard Long, Lane McCartan, Mack McCartan, Camryn Cordell, Brooks Cordell, Paisley Cordell, Cashen Cordell, Sawyer Cordell, Layton Larsen and Lainey Larsen; siblings, Shirley Fusilier, Buchanan Dam, TX, Rita Baier, Spearfish, SD, Sandra (Lyle) Sainsbury, Belle Fourche, SD, Charlene (Ron) Rosencranz, Hammond, MT, Judy Reising, Batavia OH, and Mark (Jill) Baier, Spearfish, SD; sister in-law, Kay Baier, Buffalo, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
