A Liturgy of the Word service for Augustine “Rocky” Ternes, 74, of Dickinson will be 11:00 a. m. , Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with Deacon Bob Stockert celebrating. Burial will take place at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in Dickinson. Rocky passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Vibra Health in Mandan, ND. Augustine “Rocky” was born July 31, 1940 in Shields, ND, the son of Philip and Lena Ternes. Growing up he attended country school. Rocky worked throughout North Dakota on various farms and ranches. He loved to rodeo and competed in bareback, saddle bronc and bull riding competitions. Rocky married Sharon and together the couple had five children. Later Rocky and Sharon divorced. It was then he met the love of his life, Bernice Thernes. The two were inseparable for the next 20 years. Rocky enjoyed playing his guitar and making homemade wine and beer. He had his own greenhouse where he spent a lot of time gardening and tilling. Bernice was always by his side working hand in hand. The two spent all their time together and loved having company over. Rocky is survived by the love of his life, Bernice Thernes; children, Dale, Randy, Russell, Dennis and Nadine; brothers, Lee and Ray Ternes; and sisters, Jenny, Alice and Ann.
