Bessie Pavilcek, 91, Dickinson, died Wednesday, August 6, 2003, at St. Luke?s Home, Dickinson. A Memorial Mass is 1 p. m. , Saturday, August 9, 2003, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Basil Atwell, OSB, celebrating. Inurnment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, New Hradec. Visitation is Saturday at Price-Murphy Funeral Home from 11 a. m. to 12:30 p. m. with a rosary being said at 11:30 a. m. Bessie Barta was born March 6, 1912, to Vince and Christina (Kubik) Barta. When Bessie was two years old, her father died in a buggy accident. Her mother then married Joe F. Kadrmas. Bessie attended country school north of Dickinson. On July 15, 1930, she married Emil C. Pavlicek at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, New Hradec. Together they farmed north of Dickinson until they retired and moved into Dickinson. Bessie then worked at St. Luke?s Home for six years as a cook. Emil died in 1983. Bessie enjoyed cooking, gardening, flowers, coffee, bingo, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren. Bessie is survived by: one daughter, Betty (Ben) Svihl, Dickinson; one son, Larry (Gayle) Pavlicek, Dickinson; 11 grandchildren, Gaylene (Don) Schulz, Dickinson, Dennis (Marla) Svihl, Dickinson, Randy Svihl, Bismarck, Greg (Bobbie) Svihl, Trenton, N. D. , Rocky (Genie) Svihl, Dickinson, Kelly Svihl, Tonapah, Nev. , Kay Haag, Dickinson, Tammy (Jamie) Jalbert, Dickinson, Tara Pavlicek, Minneapolis, Minn. , Brandi Pavlicek, Rochester, Minn. and Preston Pavlicek, Dickinson; 23 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian Leiss, Dickinson and Alice (Jerome) Herauf, Van Nuys, Calif. ; three brothers, Henry (Vi) Kadrmas, Dickinson, Bob (Angie) Kadrmas, Dickinson and Joe (Donna) Kadrmas, St. Coix, Wis. She was preceded in death by: her mother, Christina Kadrmas; father, Vince Barta; stepfather, Joe F. Kadrmas; two brothers, Vince Barta and Ludwig Kadrmas; husband, Emil C. Pavlicek; two sons, Gary and Eugene Pavlicek.
