Funeral Mass for Betty B. Ridl, 89, of Dickinson, ND will be 9:30 a.m., Saturday, June 9, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson with Father Patrick Schumacher celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.
Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2012 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Rosary led by The Catholic Daughters at 7:00 p. m. The Rosary will be followed by a Vigil Service.
Betty passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, with her family by her side.
Betty Bernice Saetz was born February 25, 1923 in Stark County to Frank and Annie (Chruszch) Saetz. She grew up on the family farm and attended grade school in New Hradec and high school at St. Pius High School in Schefield, ND. She then attended Good Counsel College in Mankato, MN. Betty and Albert C. Ridl were united in marriage June 8, 1943 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec, ND. Betty worked at various places over the years including, St. Luke’s Home, Ramada Inn, Woolworth’s, and St. Benedict’s Home. She was also a Senior Companion for 16 years as well as being involved with RSVP. She enjoyed researching genealogy, family histories, playing organ music, praying the rosary, and Christmas caroling at St. Benedict’s Home with the residents. Betty, besides being a devoted wife and loving mother, was also very talented at crocheting. Betty was a member of Catholic Daughters St. Catherine Court 323; St. Anne’s Alter Society at St. Wenceslaus Church; and the Rosary Society at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, New Hradec. Betty also routinely led the Rosary for the Catholic Daughters at St. Benedict’s Health Center and at Villard Terrace.
Betty is survived by her children; Ray (Luella) Ridl, Dickinson, ND, Ann (Jim) Gorman, Aurora, CO, Francis (Leota) Ridl, Loveland, CO, Albert (special friend Carolyn Sola) Ridl, Aurora, CO, Betty (Deacon Jerry) Volk, Dickinson, ND, Rita (Dave) Gardner, Omaha, NE, Pat (Sherrie) Ridl, Dickinson, ND, Erv Ridl, Dickinson, ND, Tim (Glenora) Ridl, Dickinson, ND; 28 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Frank (Bonnie) Saetz, Dickinson, ND and a sister, Tillie Privratsky, Dickinson, ND; special friends, Anita Kessel, Marie Wax and Catherine Bahley, all of Dickinson, ND as well as many other wonderful and loving fraternal sisters.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Albert; sons, Cary and Evan; daughter, Jacqualine; granddaughter, Christa; great-grandson, Dylan; sisters; Mary Saetz and Martha Kuhn; brothers-in-law, John Kuhn and Rudy Privratsky.
