A Funeral Service for Caroline (Carol) Connell, 90, of Dickinson will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May, 15, 2021 at St. John Lutheran Church in Dickinson with Pastor Joe Natwick officiating. Burial will follow at the Medora Cemetery.
Visitation for Carol will be from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 14, 2021 at Stevenson Funeral Home. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
Carol passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at her home in Dickinson.
Caroline was born March 18, 1931 in rural Drake ND, the fifth of seven children of Gustav and Hulda (Baier) Grade. She was raised, educated and graduated from Drake High School in 1949.
Carol moved to Dickinson in 1952 as she accepted a job with NW Bell Telephone Company. This is where she met the love of her life, Guy Connell. They were married August 11, 1956 at St. John Lutheran Church in Dickinson. Guy and Carol were married for 58 years before Guy passed away March 23, 2015.
Carol always thought 11 was her lucky number as she worked for NW Bell 11 years, sold Avon for 11 years, and was assistant Cook at Jefferson Elementary School for 11 years, and married Guy on August 11.
The couple was blessed with three daughters; Cathy Kaye, Lori Ann and LuAnn.
Carol enjoyed the love of family. She will always be fondly remembered for her kind heart, and thoughtfulness, as she prepared delicious meals and baked everyone’s favorites, always pleasing her family and friends for many years. She was best known as “Happy Cook On The Run” as she would drop special treats and goodies to loved ones with that special smile on her face.
Carol is survived by her daughters, Cathy (Jim) Murphy, Dickinson, Lori (Jeff) Senn, Omaha, NE, LuAnn (Scot) Senescall of Dickinson; six grandchildren, James Murphy, Candyce Murphy, Cody (Courtney) Senn, Katie (Anthony) Apland, Shawn (Hannah) Senescall, Shelby (Chris) Douthit; 6 great-grandchildren; Mackenzie and Berkley Senn, Dean and Lawrence Senescall, Avery and Easton Apland; and sisters-in-law; Marie Grade, Newark CA, Helen Connell, Dickinson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gustav and Hulda; husband, Guy; brothers, Leonard, Bill, Raymond Grade; and sisters, Marion Johnson, Laura Hanenberg, Shirley Baumgartner.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Heartland Hospice or St. John Lutheran Church.
