Funeral Liturgy of the Word for Charles David Meduna, 94, of Dickinson, will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 10, 2020 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson, ND. Burial will be in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. For those unable to attend, service will be live-streamed at Stevenson Funeral Home website.

Visitation for Charles will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson.

For those attending, please adhere to social distancing guidelines suggested by the CDC and North Dakota Department of Health.

Charles passed away on June 28, 2020 at CHI St. Alexius Medical Center in Dickinson.

Charles David “Chuck” Meduna was born in Stark County, North Dakota on November 9, 1925, the son of Vincent and Philomina (Ridl) Meduna. Chuck grew up on the family farm between South Heart and Belfield. He attended Zenith Country School and Belfield High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Belfield. On June 18, 1950, Chuck married Irene Olson and were blessed with Dennis, Charles, Debbie, Barry, and Larry. The couple spent a brief time in Nebraska before returning to Dickinson where he drove truck for Ernie Culp Trucking. The family moved to Watford City where he worked for Ecklund Brothers Trucking for a time before moving back to Dickinson. Chuck was an Area Manager for Rock Island Trucking, Matador Transport and later was Chief Gauger for Koch Oil until his retirement in 1990 with 36 years in the industry.

Chuck and Irene enjoyed taking trips in their camper to visit relatives out west and in Minnesota. They purchased a cabin at Skunk Bay where they cherished time with their family, watching their grandchildren fish, and on occasional trip to 4 Bears. Chuck enjoyed tinkering and working in his garage. He had a passion for sports, especially if his grandchildren were playing. He always liked to look at the crops and help his neighbors with their farm work. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding horse. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality and a love for visiting wherever he went.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Irene; sons Chuck (Janel) Meduna of Dickinson, Barry (Laura) Meduna of Dickinson; daughter, Debbie (Florian) Kuntz of Belfield; brother, Art Meduna of Belfield; sister, Evie Meduna Beyers of Arizona; sisters-in-law, Ramona Meduna of Dickinson, Ardis Meduna, and Julie Meduna; grandchildren, Kris (Chantel) Meduna, Kara Meduna, Kalyn (Marcus) Murphy, Kayden (Zach Pavlicek) Meduna, Ryan (Ann) Kuntz, Corey Kuntz, Jennifer (Andy) Kuntz Cabeen, Jared (Alyshia) Meduna, Nicole (Dan) Renshaw; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Andrew, Tony, Joe, Hank, Frank, Vince, William, Edward; sisters, Minnie Polensky, Francis Abram; sons, Dennis, Larry; daughter-in-law, Pauli Meduna; great-granddaughter, Alexis Meduna.
