Clarence passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Baywood Medical Center, Mesa, AZ.
To know Clarence Farber was to truly love him. Born September 15, 1944, at St. Joseph Hospital in Dickinson, Clarence was the beloved son of Elmer and Helen (Lizer) Farber. He grew up on the family farm southwest of New England, where the values of hard work, dedication, and love for the land were instilled in him from an early age.
Clarence attended rural grade school, New England High School, and graduated from Scranton High School in 1962. After graduation, he chose to remain on the family farm, eager to continue the farming legacy he cherished. At 21, he began farming his own land and eventually took over the family farm following his father's passing. Together with his brother, Clarence farmed the land and operated a trucking business until his retirement in 2003. Clarence also worked in agricultural mediation for over 10 years.
A man of deep faith, Clarence was a member of DeSart Lutheran Church before moving to Dickinson, where he became a dedicated member of St. John's Lutheran Church. His faith was simple and sincere - he believed wholeheartedly in God's forgiveness and grace.
Clarence's life was forever enriched when he met Paulette Hoerner. They were married on May 28, 1991. He instantly embraced Paulette's three sons, along with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren that followed. Clarence often spoke of how blessed he felt to be part of this loving family. In turn, we feel incredibly fortunate to have had him in our lives.
Gentle, patient, and kind, Clarence had a special way with children and animals alike - especially with any dog lucky enough to cross his path. His love was immeasurable and deeply felt by all who knew him. With his sheepish grin, dry wit, and quick sense of humor, Clarence had a unique talent for brightening any room and lifting spirits.
In his leisure time, Clarence enjoyed playing cards, usually sandbagging the wilds. He was a skilled woodworker and stone polisher, creating many gifts that will be treasured by family and friends for years to come. He loved to travel and spent 19 winters in Arizona.
Clarence Farber's legacy is one of love, hard work, and quiet strength - a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Clarence is survived by his beloved wife, Paulette; three sons, Alan Hoerner, Bismarck, ND; Stephen (Crystal) Hoerner, Dickinson, ND, and Bruce (Jodi) Hoerner, Chandler, AZ; grandchildren; Jordan (Phoebe) Hoerner, Bismarck, ND, Zachary (Ashley) Hoerner, Bismarck, ND, Madeline (Taylor) Bohne, Mesa, AZ, Isaac (Abigail) Hoerner, Gilbert, AZ, Jacob Hoerner, Tempe, AZ, Katelyn (Jaxson) Kukowski, Dickinson, ND, Alden Hoerner, Dickinson, ND, and Ava Hoerner, Dickinson, ND; great-grandchildren, Holden, Stevie, Robert, Mason, Olivia, Theodore, and a great-grandson expected in May; sister-in-law, Barb Farber; nieces and nephew, Faith, Linda, Debbie, and David; and many extended family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Leroy.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to Badlands Ministries in Medora, or to the Endowment Fund at St. John Lutheran Church in Dickinson.
