Dale Arthur Bornemann (Husband, Dad, Papa, Great papa, Great-great papa and dear friend), 91, of Glen Ullin, ND, went to his eternal rest on April 17, 2026, at his home with his wife of 65 years at his side.
Dale was born on April 9, 1935, to Christian and Hattie (Wolf) Bornemann at his home on his family's farm north of Hannover, ND. Dale was baptized on April 28, 1935, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hannover, ND, and was confirmed on April 10, 1949. Dale entered the army and was eventually promoted to Sergeant and was honorably discharged on March 31, 1963. On July 17, 1960, Dale married the woman who would be by his side for the next 65 years, Lois Hintz. This union was blessed with four children: Clay (Cindy), Todd (Stacey), Lisa (Glenn) Gerving, Lora (Bryant) Voegele, and Cindy (Rick) Aaser. Dale and Lois farmed north of Hannover. Dale also worked at BNI Coal near Center for 24 years. Dale loved his family above all else. He also had so many dear friends, and there is no way to count the number of pinochle hands that were played throughout the years. Music was a part of Dale's life from early on, and he sang in the choir for over 50 plus years. His beautiful tenor voice reverberated throughout St. Peter Church. He also played in a band for 7 years named, "The Coal Miners" which he started with his good friend, Eddie Hilzendeger. Whoever met Dale knew they had found an instant friend. Dale and Lois went everywhere together and were committed to each other to the very end. They spent most of their married life on the farm near Hannover, and then moved to Hannover for many years. In 2020, they moved to Glen Ullin to be closer to their daughters. During their time in Glen Ullin, they made many new friends and were able to spend time with their children and grandchildren.
Blessed to have shared his life are his wife of 65 years, Lois; daughter, Lisa Gerving-Glen Ullin; daughter Lora (Bryant) Voegele-Glen Ullin; daughter Cindy (Rick) Aaser-Hannover; and brother Larry (Dawn) Bornemann-New Salem. He was blessed with 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren, and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of twin great, great grandchildren.
He is reunited in Heaven with his parents, Christian and Hattie, his brothers Burton and Donald, and his sisters-in-law Bernice C. and Bernice G. He is also enjoying a glorious reunion with his sons Clay and Todd, and his son-in-law, Glenn Gerving. Dale's favorite verse reminds us "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever" -Hebrews 13:8
