Funeral Mass for Darlene Zarak, 82, of Dickinson, will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 1, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, South Heart, with Father Shane Campbell celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 28, 2021 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, with a rosary and vigil taking place at 4:00 p.m.

Darlene Lillian Zarak passed away February 25, 2021 at her home in Dickinson.

Darlene was born on February 20, 1939, the daughter of Vitres and Lillian (Urbanec) Kubik. She grew up in Belfield and graduated from Belfield High School. After attending Billings Business College she began working as a bookkeeper in Dickinson. She married William Zarak on September 20, 1958, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Belfield. Together they farmed and raised their family near South Heart. Bill passed away in 2005, and Dar remained on the farm until 2008 when she moved to Dickinson.

She had an active social life, volunteering at the hospital and meeting friends at the Community Center. Wednesday lunches were the highlight of her week. She loved her grandchildren, enjoyed reading and watching Twins baseball and westerns.

Dar is survived by her eight children Kelly (Galen) Kudrna of Stanley; Mark (Missy) Zarak of Fargo; Shawn (Randy) Kovash of North Carolina; Bill (Tammie) Zarak of Wisconsin; Tom Zarak of Fargo; Gregg Zarak of Dickinson; Eric (Jenny) Zarak of Fargo; and Chris (Emily) Zarak of South Heart; sister Doret Melby-Passolt of Minnesota; grandchildren Cole, Cody, Carson, Carleigh, Kristin, Brandon, Mary Cate, Alex, Dakota, Mason, Parker, Tessa, Will, and Harper; great-grandchildren Jocelyn and Isla; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dar was preceded in death by her husband Bill; parents V.J. and Lil; father-in-law and mother-in-law Bill and Mary Zarak; sister Doreen Altenburg; and brothers-in-law Denis Melby, Gil Brown and Mark Roth.
