Darrell Eugene Johnson passed away at home on November 18, 2023. He was born to Llewell and Theresa Johnson on October 31, 1934. Darrell grew up on the family ranch with his 3 siblings, LLewell Jr., DuWayne and Reva. Darrell and Marge Holman were married on November 16, 1955. To this union a son Cody and daughter Connie were born.
He fell in love with and married Joan Celander on September 7, 1984. They lived together on the 101 Ranch as he would say “Partners”. He accepted her 5 children that came into the marriage with her, as his own. He loved ranching, being a cattleman, and cattle buying. He passed this love onto his entire family. He loved the cowboy way and being on his horses in his younger years was his true pleasure. Later in life he loved his Ranger which he called his “horse”. He and Joan would have to leave extra early to arrive at the sale barn to play cards, visit and then into a sale to wave his card, “We came to buy’em”. He especially enjoyed his time loading cattle and visiting. He also loved driving around looking at his cattle and his pastures, and taking family and friends along on these rides. He was quick witted and always had a story to tell. He could always be heard saying “what can I do” or “how can I help”.
Darrell loved his family and especially his grandchildren. He was a generous man, helping those in need. His greatest gift was to help those who were looking to start their own herd of cattle. He was a man of strong beliefs with not much wiggle room. The 101 Road was and will forever be his home.
Everyone could expect to be woken up at 5 am by a phone call from him. These phone calls from Darrell will be greatly missed but everyone can sleep in now.
“It is what it is and you can’t change it Joanie”
