Taylor

Dennis Dohrmann, 75, of Taylor passed away Friday, December 29, 2023 surrounded by his family after a battle with ALS.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Dennis Lowell Dohrmann was born in Dickinson ND on Feb 13, 1948 to Richard and Edna (Diers) Dohrmann.  He grew up with his two brothers and four sisters on the family farm north of Taylor.

He graduated from Taylor High School in 1966 and later received a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from NDSU.  He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Leslie Brand, at the Taylor Lutheran Church on December 30, 1969.  They farmed and ranched north of Taylor and started their family.  Later, they moved to their ranch south of Taylor on the Heart River.  Ultimately, they relocated to Barbara’s childhood home, the Stonehammer Ranch, where they ranched up to the time of Dennis’ death.  By then he had proudly ranched for over 50 years.

Dennis served in the North Dakota National Guard and on the Taylor School Board, Cenex Board, and the Taylor Lutheran Church Board.  He was also a member of the Taylor Rod and Gun Club, Taylor Lions Club, and Richardton Saddle Club.

Dennis loved camping, boating, family vacations, and playing in basketball leagues.  He enjoyed a hot cup of coffee while watching an episode of Gunsmoke or reading a Louis L’Amour book.  He found great joy in spending time with his 10 grandchildren, watching them in their various activities, pontoon rides on the lake, working cattle, and numerous summer vacations at Craguns Resort in MN.  He also enjoyed his mornings with his coffee club friends at the Sidetrack.  Dennis was famous for his one-liners and lovingly teasing his family and friends.  Family was everything to Dennis and he will be forever missed and loved.

Dennis is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Barbara of Taylor; daughters, Tracy (John) Wiebe and children, Lexi and Josie of Rapid City, SD; Amy (Scott) Bloom and children, Elli and Graden of Taylor;  Lori (Eric) Dvorak and children, Lakin, Alex, and Aiden of Taylor; and son, Cory (Kari) Dohrmann and children, Kajren, Caisen, and Kanyn of Taylor.
