Destry Bonsell

Destry Alger Bonsell, 16, of Ekalaka died of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on Hwy 323, south of Ekalaka, Saturday, July 5th, 2003. He was born in Ekalaka on August 22, 1986 the son of Douglas and Ronda (Liss) Bonsell. Destry grew up and attended school in Ekalaka where he would have been a senior this fall. He loved football and was nicknamed ?Diesel? #32; he was also in track, 4-H, and FFA. Those who knew Destry knew he had a real good-eye for cattle and show steers. He showed steers twice at the Eastern Montana Fair in Miles City. Destry really enjoyed hanging out with his friends and had his own opinion and didn?t care about what anyone else thought. He was very soft spoken and only spoke when he needed to. Destry was a likeable individual, whom his friends would label ?a character?. His family recalls his heart for hard work around the ranch and his enjoyment of working at the brandings. He was very dependable and one could always count on him to get the job done. Destry always managed to be there at the right time when you needed him. Another trait of Destry was that he was very frugal with his money and liked saving it. It was said that he probably still had the first nickel he owned. Yet, he used his earnings to buy gifts for others. But Destry?s special love was for his brothers and sisters who he loved to play with. He will be missed by many friends and family. Destry is survived by his four brothers: Falcon of Fort Lewis, WA, Terrell, Grafton and Brennen; four sisters: Sheena, Leva, Royce, Kyliegh; his parents Doug & Ronda Bonsell all of the family home in Ekalaka; his grandparents, Neva Bonsell of Newcastle, WY, Margie Saukerson of Grand Ronde, OR, and Joe Liss of Eureka, MT; and Robert Saukerson ?Grandpa Socks?. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Russell Bonsell. Visitation hours will begin on Wednesday, July 9, from 10 AM ? 7 PM in the Chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home in Ekalaka. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, July 10, at 1 PM in the Carter County High School Gymnasium with burial to following in the Beaverlodge Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Parish Hall following the graveside services. Stevenson Funeral Homes, Inc. of Baker and Ekalaka are in charge of the arrangements.
