Donald "Buzz" Bussier was born January 7, 1936, in Fargo, North Dakota, to Antonio and Lucille (Cossette) Bussiere. He grew up in Fargo and attended Fargo Shanley High School where he excelled in football, playing both quarterback and safety for the Deacons. After graduating in 1954 Buzz enlisted in the US Army where he served for two years. During this time Buzz considered becoming a priest before his mother encouraged him to attend business school. It was while at school that Buzz met the love of his life, Dorothy Binek. The two were married on June 10, 1961. The couple lived in Fargo for a few years while Buzz finished his accounting degree from Moorhead State University. Buzz began his professional career as a Revenue Agent with the IRS in Fargo, ND. They moved their family to Rapid City, SD where Buzz became a Criminal Investigator with the IRS. In 1971 they moved to Dickinson, ND where they purchased the Midget News and Buzz opened his private tax practice. They sold Midget News in 1974 so Buzz could focus on his tax practice. Buzz continued to take care of his tax clients until his retirement in 2014.
Buzz also took great pride in his home and especially enjoyed working in his yard. He spent many hours caring for his flowers and making sure his yard looked its best. His flowers were a particular source of pride, and tending to them was something he truly enjoyed. He was also a member of the Dickinson Elks, American Legion, and enjoyed the many friendships he developed through his community involvement.
Buzz had a great sense of humor and loved being around people. He enjoyed socializing, visiting with friends and neighbors, and sharing a good laugh. Buzz and Dorothy were also active in their neighborhood bridge group, forming many lasting friendships over the years.
Above all, Buzz treasured his family, especially the love of his life, Dorothy. He was proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and valued the time they shared together. He will be remembered as a gentle, softhearted-man, with a wonderful sense of humor who genuinely enjoyed people. He always held a special place in his heart for animals, especially his beloved dog Rosie as well as the neighborhood birds.
Buzz is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy; his children, Sarah (Mark) Uhler, Dave Bussier, and Nancy (Russ) Wahl; his grandchildren, Amée (Joe) Stefalo; Bennett (Alexis) Uhler; Ellyse (Joel) Schwartz; Sophia Bussier; Lexi Bussier; Emma Wahl; and Ava Wahl; 11 great-grandchildren; his sister, Arlene Hamilton and foster siblings, Teri, Mary and Donna.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Lucille (Cossette) Bussiere; infant son, Thomas Francis Bussier; and his sister, Margaret Hogan.
