Dorothy Lien

Funeral Service for Dorothy Lien, 96, of New England, will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, with Pastor Galen Strand officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, one hour prior to her service. Burial will take place at Our Redeemers Cemetery in New England, ND.

Dorothy passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at St. Benedict's Health Center, Dickinson.

Dorothy Mae was born on September 13, 1929, SW of Regent, North Dakota, to Elmer and Edith (Lundy) Shern. She grew up in the Regent area and attended school through the eighth grade. On February 6, 1948, Dorothy was united in marriage to Harold Lien at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in New England. Together, they raised their family on the family farm SW of Regent before moving to New England in 1990, where Dorothy made her home for the remainder of her life.

Dorothy enjoyed bowling with Harold and treasured time spent with her loved ones. Dorothy was known for her enjoyment of playing bingo and cards-especially pinochle and whist-and in her younger years, she loved gardening.

She was an active member of the New England Senior Citizens, St. Anthony's Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, and Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Sharon (Denis) Wells, Donna Lien, Sandra Lien, Lyle (Pat) Lien, Ruth Klein (special friend Kevin), Delores "Lori" (Steven) Privratsky, Alton (Tammy) Lien, Rita (Bill) Frank, Kevin (Terri) Lien, Carla (Jim) Messer, Curtis Lien; 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Lien; her parents, Elmer and Edith Shern; sisters, Irene Bohlman, Bernice Huether, and Beatrice Jones; grandchildren, Rhonda Starling, Cody Perfett and Dustin Perfett, and Corie Lien; and great-grandson, Jaxon Wiederholt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New England Lions Club or the New England Ambulance.
