Funeral services for Doug Plummer, 90, of Mandan, ND, formerly of Baker, MT will be 11:00 MT am, Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker. Burial will follow to Bonnievale Cemetery.

Visitation for Doug will be 3:00 to 5:00 pm MT, Monday, July 27, 2026 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Baker.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 7:00 pm CT, Thursday, July 30, 2026 at the Mandan Eagles Club, 1400 Collins Ave, Mandan, ND 58554.

Doug passed away peacefully on Friday, July 17, 2026 at his home in Mandan.

Douglas Duane Plummer was born on May 4, 1936, in Ollie, Montana, the son of Patrick and Edna (Berg) Plummer. He grew up in the Ollie area and attended school there before graduating from Baker High School in 1953.

Following high school, Doug attended Montana State University in Bozeman, where he earned his degree in Civil Engineering in 1957.

Doug married Myra Corbitt in 1957, and together they welcomed three children: Sherry, Keith, and Kevin. He began his career as a civil engineer with the Federal Highway Administration. During his career, Doug and his family traveled throughout 25 different states while working on highway projects. He was instrumental in completing Interstate 94 from Bismarck west to Montana.

Following his retirement in 1982, they moved from Mandan to Baker. Doug returned to the Ollie area after his Uncle passed away and took over the Pat Plummer ranch. Myra passed away in 1989. Doug returned to his beloved ranch in Mandan in 1990 and married Judy Schuler in 1993.

From an early age, Doug was a gifted athlete. He played basketball for the Spartans and he competed on a regional baseball team. During college he competed in all the rough stock events and steer wrestling. He often said it was tough to get his engineering studies completed being on the road 3-4 days a week with their college rodeo schedule. He had a lifelong passion for horses, raising many outstanding horses over the years. He served as a 4-H leader and a Sunday School teacher. Doug was also recognized as an expert witness in highway design and worked tirelessly on the North Dakota Horse Racing Board to create opportunities for ND Quarter Horse breeders. He was also a Land Surveyor.

Doug was a member of McCabe Methodist Church in Bismarck, the Bismarck-Mandan Elks, and served on the Mor Gran Sou board. Above all, he treasured his family and especially loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events and activities. Doug and Judy spent their winters in Phoenix over the last several years. He did not like the cold!

Doug is survived by his wife, Judy Plummer of Bismarck; children, Sherry Plummer of Dickinson ND, Keith Plummer of Mandan, Kevin (Kim) Plummer of Baker, MT; stepsons, Cory (Lisa) Glaser of Bismarck and Jayme (Aimee) Glaser of Bismarck; sister, Loretta (Harold) Schlothauer of Fairview, MT; grandchildren, Justin (Jessica) Plummer, Sheyenne (Jake) Hovick, McKenzi Plummer, Skylar Ehley, Kylee Glaser, and Kady Glaser; great-grandchildren, Wade, Weston, Brynlee,Tenley, Everly, Bentley, and Maverick; along with numerous extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Edna Plummer, and his first wife, Myra Plummer.

We would also like to thank Kait M. and Katie E. and the great team at Sanford Hospice in Mandan. Dad appreciated the weekly visits from Pastor Marvin with hospice.
