Edward, the son of Paul & Mechtilde (Froehlich) Eberts, was born March 20, 1913 in Dickinson, ND. He was raised in South Heart, where he also attended country school. Upon finishing his education Edward returned to the family farm. On November 21, 1939, Edward and Johanna Huschka were united in marriage. They began farming south of South Heart along with raising their family. In the fall of 1971, they moved into Dickinson and made their home since. After moving to town he stayed involved in farming and ranching by helping his sons whenever he could. During his lifetime he experienced the changes in farming, from fieldwork using a team of horses to plowing with 4-wheeled drive tractors. Edward was a perfectionist in anything he did from fencing to cleaning the barn. He took great pride in his Hereford cattle and constantly improved his herds. Edward especially loved working with the Steiger tractor. Edward was a South Heart School Board Member, St. Mary?s Church Building Committee, St. Anthony?s Club, Eagles Club and Knights of Columbus. He found enjoyment in dancing, bowling, along with playing cards, mainly pinochle, with his friends. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly and was very proud of all of them. Edward will be greatly missed by his wife of 63 years, Johanna, Dickinson, their children, Kenneth (Norma) Eberts, Medora, Allan (Jennifer) Eberts, South Heart, Dennis (Jeanette) Eberts, South Heart, Verlene (Ben) Sticka, Dickinson, Elaine (Stephen) Weeks of New Port Richey, FL; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; one brother, Frank (Catherine) Eberts, South Hearts; one sister-in-law, Leontine Eberts, Dickinson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Mechtilde Eberts, three brothers, Pete, Emil, Anton and one sister, Barbara Wolf Olheiser.
