Eileen Meggers

Funeral Service for Eileen Meggers will be 11:00 am Saturday, January 7 at the Stevenson Funeral Home Baker, MT with Terry Bagley officiating. Burial to follow the service in the Tuttle Cemetery in Rhame, ND.  

Eileen Ramona Meggers, 93, Baker, Montana, passed on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Fallon County Health Complex in Baker, Montana.

Eileen Meggers was born July 29, 1929 at the Stenbak homestead south of Griffin, ND to Julius and Elen Stenbak. Eileen was one of twelve children and grew up on the homestead. She received her education from the rural school south of Griffin and then finished at Bowman High School. After high school Eileen began working at the Bowman Red Owl. 

Eileen met Donald Meggers and married January 8, 1947 in Baker, MT. They moved to the farm in Harper township, where they farmed and ranched. In 1962 they built a home and moved to Rhame, ND. In 1968, they moved west of Rhame where they built a beautiful home.

Donald and Eileen started the Rhame Assembly of God, Eileen was the pianist and secretary for 11 years.  She was a beautiful pianist, organist, she played the guitar, banjo and the accordion.  Everyone enjoyed listening to her beautiful music and her pretty voice as she sang along at church services, baptismal services and the assisted living in Baker, MT. 

Eileen loved to garden, mow the lawn and loved to decorate her home. She was a devoted mother and excellent cook.  She prepared delicious meals for many missionaries and evangelists while they visited Rhame Assembly of God. Don loved her cooking and she delivered many a delicious meal to the harvest field.

Eileen was a sweet and kind woman loved by the Rhame community. She had many hobbies and ways to fill her time, she loved to crochet, sew and quilt with the ladies in Rhame, painted cement lawn ornaments with Vicki Ridl in Bowman. Many enjoyed her love of baking and she was an expert, making her famous lefse that her family enjoyed so much.  

After Donald passed away she moved to Rapid City, SD in 2002 where she lived until she moved back to Baker, MT and resided at Quality Care Assisted Living in 2016.  On October, 1 2020 she moved into the Fallon Medical Long Term Care facility where she lived until her death.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Meggers, Gilbert, AZ and Roger (Beth) Meggers, Baker, MT; three daughters Janet (Ernest) Snook, Duvall, WA, Susan and Monte Soehren, Rapid City, SD and Karen Meggers, Mesa, AZ; sister in laws, Bernice Meggers, Rhame, ND and Jenny Stenbak, Belgrade, MT; 11 grandchildren: Jeremy and Ted Snook, Jena Lagasse, Aaron and Adam Meggers, Samantha Vondal, Steph and Darin Meggers, Christopher and Matthew Soehren, Kali Jarvis; great grandchildren: Fiona, Sophia, Jaelyn, Penelope, Jace, Andrew, Declan, Torsten, Lucille, Vivienne, Rhett, Roslynn, Coen, Paisley, Luis Soto Valenzuela, Daisy and Briza Saenz.  Numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald Meggers, a granddaughter Kelsey and her siblings: Martin, Ole, Emma, Clara, Ruby, Ruth, Helmer, Lily, Marie, Anna June and Albert.
