Eleanor Wagner

Funeral Mass for Eleanor Wagner, 97, of Glen Ullin, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Central Time on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin, with Father Gary Benz celebrating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. Central Time at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan.

Visitation for Eleanor will be from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the church, prior to Mass, with a Rosary at 10:30 a.m.

Eleanor passed away Friday, August 7, 2026, at Marian Manor Healthcare Center.

Eleanor was born August 23, 1928, to Lucas and Angelina (Kary) Meuchel. She attended country school at St. Joe. On October 18, 1949, Eleanor married Alvin Wagner. Together, they farmed until 1983, when they moved to Glen Ullin.

Eleanor worked at the Senior Center and Marian Manor Healthcare Center. She was a member of Haymarsh Homemakers, Christian Mothers and the Glen Ullin Lioness Club.

Eleanor was always busy. She enjoyed baking, cooking, canning and sewing. She sewed for most of Glen Ullin and Hebron. Her needles were always moving.

Eleanor will be deeply missed by her children, Fran Thomas of Bismarck, Cal Wagner of Beulah, Jim (Dorinda) of Linton, and Donna (Loren) Riemers of OR; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Loreine, Caroline and Angie; and one brother-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, in 1998; son, Jeff, in 2009; granddaughters, Allayna, in 2025 and Nicole, in 2026; and 11 siblings.

The family would like to thank Marian Manor for the care they provided to Eleanor and her family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the North Dakota Veterans cemetery.
