Visitation for Eleanora will take place one hour prior to the service on Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church.

Eleanora passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, January 05, 2024 at Missouri Slope Care Center, Bismarck.

Eleanora and her twin sister, Evelyn, were born on June 6, 1931 to Robert and Christine (Fehr) Krieg in Richardton, ND. She grew up in Hebron, ND and was very proud of her roots. When meeting new people, she’d always ask if they had any ties to Hebron. Her family moved to Dickinson when she was in grade school. She graduated from Dickinson High School in 1951.

Eleanora married Donald Fischer on November 26, 1953 in Dickinson. She started her banking career at Liberty National Bank. After that, she had a long career at Gate City Bank from which she retired. Prior to retirement, she and Don enjoyed camping with family and friends, especially the Southside Gang. She had numerous friends and was always making new ones. Eleanora was a very active member of St. John Lutheran Church and the Dickinson American Legion Auxiliary. She was proud of the fact she worked many elections over the years.

During retirement, Eleanora would go to the Recreation Center early every morning to swim, exercise and have coffee. She loved going to deliver mail and volunteer at CHI-St. Joseph’s each Monday morning. She spent much of her time at the Senior Center playing cards and helping with anything that needed to be done. She was an avid card player, pinochle was her favorite, but playing hand and foot with family came in a close 2nd! She enjoyed going to card tournaments, especially going monthly to the Taylor Senior Center. Tell her you’re playing cards, she’ll be there! She loved to take in DSU Blue Hawks tailgates, football games and loved the 50/50 raffle.

Eleanora’s faith and family were extremely prominent in her life. As a Godly woman, goodness and mercy shone through her continuously. She’d mention quite often how blessed and proud she was to have the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren she and Don had.

Eleanora is survived by her children, Bob (Carolyn) Fischer, Dona (Jim) Glick, Bismarck, and Diane (Jerry) Mayer, Dickinson; her grandchildren, Troy (Kelly Highland) Herberholz, Jodi (Kenny) Molenda, Andy Glick, and Justin (Lisa) Herberholz; great-grandchildren, Kaden and Hunter Molenda, and Brynley and Eden Herberholz.

Those who have gone before Eleanora are her parents, Robert and Christine Krieg; her husband, Don (2016); twin sister, Evelyn (Roy) Dimond; sister, Florance (Tully) Vashus; brothers, Albert (Beverly) Krieg, Harold “Satch” (Nancy) Krieg; Don’s parents, Peter and Margaret Fischer; his brother and wife, Dorman and Jeanette Fischer.

As an expression of love and sympathy, Eleanora and family request no flowers. She had requested donations be made to the Stark County Veterans Memorial, 801 5th Ave. W., Dickinson, ND 58601.
