Erma passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023 at the Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck.

Erma (Morman) Renner Jakubowsky was born on July 25, 1931 in Glen Ullin, North Dakota to John and Helen (Tavis) Morman. She was the first of seven siblings born on the family farm. Erma attended Sacred Heart School through the 8th grade until she became ill with rheumatic fever, which prevented her from completing her education. One of Erma’s favorite childhood memories that she often spoke of was milking “Old Bluey”.

Erma married Ernest Renner on May 17, 1951, after which they moved to Garrison, North Dakota. Ernie and Erma moved around four different states while working on the dams along the Missouri River until they reached Chamberlain, South Dakota. It was then that they chose to stay and raise their family. Ernie and Erma welcomed five children – Allan, Jane, Jean, Paul, and Marsha. Ernie passed away on January 19, 1971. Erma stayed in Chamberlain until moving to Dickinson, North Dakota in January of 1976.

Erma met John Jakubowsky in 1982 at the singles club in Dickinson. They were married on September 19, 1984. She moved to Belfield where she embraced the role of a farmer’s wife. When John and Erma sold the farm in 2002, they moved to Bismarck/Mandan. They eventually moved to Glen Ullin, where they lived in the Marian Manor Estates. Erma lived there until she passed away.

Some of Erma’s many hobbies included quilting, sewing, crocheting, needlepoint, cooking, and baking. As Erma entered her “golden years” and her hobbies became too difficult for her, she took up word searches, bingo, card games, and puzzles.

Erma’s greatest joy in life were her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her great-great-grandchildren. Yes, she had to change many diapers!

Erma left behind a son, Allan (Nancy) Renner of Chamberlain, SD; two daughters, Jean (Benny) Audiss of Winner, SD and Marsha (Glen) Burbidge of Circle, MT; three brothers, Gerald Morman of Mandan, Walter (Phyllis) Morman of Glen Ullin, and Glen (JoAnn) Morman of Wishek; many brothers and sisters-in-law; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen Morman; husbands, Ernie Renner (January 1971) and John Jakubowsky (May 2023); infant son, Paul; daughter, Jane; sisters, Joan Geck and Doris Oster; brother, Eugene Morman; and sister-in-law, LaVonne Morman.
