A funeral Mass for Deacon Eugene Morman, 85, of Dickinson, will be 9:30 a.m. MT, Thursday, May 18, 2023 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson. The Most Reverend David Dennis Kagan will concelebrate the mass with Msgr. Patrick Schumacher. Burial will take place 3:00 p.m., CT in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Visitation for Deacon Eugene Morman will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a rosary and vigil service being held at 6:00 pm.

Deacon Eugene Morman passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023 at CHI St. Alexius in Dickinson.

Eugene Francis Morman was born April 11, 1938 in Glen Ullin, the son of John and Helen (Tavis) Morman.  He grew up on the family farm south of Glen Ullin, attending school in Glen Ullin where he graduated with the class of 1957.  Following high school, Eugene moved to Seattle, WA and worked for Boeing for several years.  In 1960, he enlisted in the US Army and served for three years in Korea.  After his honorable discharge, Gene returned to ND. He worked for Eddy’s Bakery in Bismarck and it was there where he met his wife, Marilyn Bruski, who also worked for Eddy’s Bakery.  Gene married Marilyn on June 19, 1965 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin.  The couple lived in Aberdeen, SD for a year before transferring to Dickinson in 1966.  Gene began to work for Schnell’s and later Stockmen’s Livestock.  On June 10, 1990, Eugene was ordained as a Deacon in the Bismarck Diocese, serving all his years at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.  In his later years, he drove school bus on rural routes for Dickinson Public Schools and for school activities.  He also drove for PTI for several years transferring railroad employees.  In his pastime, Gene enjoyed overhauling and restoring tractors, gardening and he had a fondness for horses. Gene especially loved spending time with his extended family.  He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, 4th and 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus, Badlands Bowl, and was a Golden Member of the Eagles.

Gene is survived by his wife, Marilyn; extended family, MariJo Sigl and Mark Klundt of Bismarck, Holly and Scott Wolbaum and their daughter, Brenna Jo of Dickinson; Angela and Michael Janson and their children, Patrick and Elise of Minneapolis, MN; brothers, Gerald of Mandan, Walter (Phyllis) of Glen Ullin, Glenn (JoAnn) of Wishek; sisters, Erma Jakubowsky of Glen Ullin, sister-in-law, Laverne Krein of Hebron; numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Morman; sisters, Joan Geck, Doris Oster; brothers-in-law, Ernie Renner, Clemens “Bud” Geck, Claude Oster, John Jakubowsky, Kirk Krein; sister-in-law, LaVonne Morman.

In lieu of flowers, Gene’s family suggests memorials to Trinity Catholic Schools.
