A funeral Mass for Eugenia Stagl, 99, of New England, will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 9, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New England with Father Basil Atwell, OSB celebrating. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery in New England.
Visitation for Eugenia will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New England, with a rosary and vigil service taking place at 6:00 p.m.
Eugenia passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018, surrounded by her family at CHI St. Alexius Health, Dickinson.
Eugenia was born May 4, 1918 in Stark County near Sheffield, the daughter of Raphael and Ottilia (Frank) Sticka. Eugenia married Thomas Stagl on August 3, 1936 in New England. To this union, nine children, James, Edward, Shirley, Connie, Richard, Gerald, Paul, Robert and Mary Jean were born. Eugenia was a dedicated farmwife and homemaker. She loved flower gardening, bird watching and collecting angels. Eugenia was truly the heart of her family.
Eugenia is survived by her daughters, Shirley (Larry) Kremla of Omaha, NE, Connie (Richard) Richter of Jamestown, Mary Jean Anderson of Colorado Springs, CO; sons, James (Carole) Stagl of Crooked River Ranch, OR, Edward Stagl of Troutdale, OR, Richard Stagl of New England, Paul (Joanne) Stagl of Wichita, KS, Robert (Cely) Stagl of New England; brother, Ignatius (Eudora) Sticka of Bismarck; sisters, Sister Pauline Sticka of NY, Teresa Sticka of CA, Sister Margaret Mary of Wahpeton; 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas; son, Gerald Stagl; brothers, John, Bill, Gregory and Florian Sticka; sisters, Marge Schulz and Sally Zastoupil; one grandson, Sheldon Stagl.
