Evelyn passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Marian Manor in Glen Ullin.

Evelyn Ann Meissner was born on July 25 1929 in the farm home of her parents, Michael and Margaret (Muller) Meissner, five miles northwest of Glen Ullin, North Dakota.  She was the second child in a family of five siblings born on the Meissner  family farmstead, Alice, Evelyn, Claremont, Duane and Virgil.

Evelyn attended grade school at the Tavis School located a mile west of the family home.  After the eighth grade, she then attended and completed her education at Glen Ullin High School.

In 1947 Evelyn Ann Meissner and Simon Reinbold met at a dance at Glen Ullin, and in 1948 they were united in marriage at Sacred Heart Church in Glen Ullin, North Dakota.  Evelyn and Simon resided in Hebron, North Dakota, and to this union seven children were born, Cheryl, Delvin, Annette, JoDell, Simon, Geralyn and Patrice.  In 1972 Simon died as the result of a tragic vehicle accident and Evelyn was left to raise the children.  She was a kind and loving mother.

In 1978 Evelyn met and married Harold Grosz of Hazen, North Dakota.  Harold passed away in 2012 and soon after his death Evelyn moved to Marian Manor Health Center where she was provided devoted and loving care for the last four years of her life.

Evelyn was a life-long and faithful member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church of Hebron, North Dakota.  She had a beautiful devotion to her Catholic faith and to Mary, the Blessed Mother of God.

Evelyn was an excellent seamstress and sewed many beautiful dresses and other clothing items for her daughters, working into the wee hours of the night to complete her projects.    Another of her favorite pastimes was hiking hills and valleys in the quest to find attractive (and huge and heavy!) rocks with which to adorn her yard.  She also loved to crochet, presenting beautiful afghans to her children and grandchildren as special gifts.  When Evelyn was a young girl she took piano lessons from the teaching nuns at the “Sister House” in Glen Ullin and at the age of 65 she eagerly resumed taking piano lessons and continued for a good number of years.

She loved to spend time at the Heart Butte Dam cabin which she and Simon built together and which they enjoyed until Simon’s passing in 1972.  After Evelyn remarried, she and Harold also spent countless days at the cabin where they enjoyed many hours sitting in the sun, boating and fishing.

Evelyn is survived by her seven children, Cheryl (Glenn) Lohmann of Dickinson ND, Delvin (friend Gladys) Reinbold of Hebron ND, Annette (Leonard) Keller of Dickinson ND, JoDell (David) Vinot of Glen Rock WY, Simon (fiancee Theresa) Reinbold of Mandan ND, Geralyn (Pat)  Glasser of Glen Ullin ND, Patrice (Ken) Cassezza of Taylor ND.

She is also survived by her grandchildren Travis (Ricci) Lohmann, GJ Lohmann, Laton (Janessa) Lohmann, Andrea (Wes) Krebs, Lance Keller, Micah (Nick) Beukema, Samantha (Brady) Berg, Jesse (Trish) Butcher, Jaclyn (Kris) Moos, Megan (Josh) Jensen, Patrick (Becky) Glasser, Daniel Glasser, Beth (Ethan) Kaml, Nicole Glasser, Tessa Klein and Lauren (Channing) Schmidt.
