Evelyn Jean Herold

A Funeral Mass for Evelyn Herold, 90, of Dickinson will be 10:00 am, Friday, September 25, 2026 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dickinson, with Father Brandon Wolf celebrating. Burial will take place at a later date at St. Elizabeth's Cemetery in Lefor.

Visitation for Evelyn will be 5 pm - 7 pm, Thursday, September 24, 2026 at Stevenson Funeral Home, in Dickinson with rosary and vigil service at 6:00 pm.

Evelyn passed away Monday, September 21, 2026 at St. Benedicts Health Center in Dickinson.

Evelyn J. was born December 4, 1935, in Stark County, the daughter of Mike and Magdalena (Dassinger) Herold. Growing up, she attended St. Elizabeth's grade school in Lefor and Lefor High School. Evelyn continued her education at St. Mary's College in Bismarck. Following graduation, she spent the next 25 years at a convent in Crookston, MN where she served as Sister Mary Mark and she taught primary grade students in Minnesota. Upon her return to Dickinson, Evelyn was a nurse's aide working for St. Luke's Home and St. Joseph's Hospital. With her caring touch, she provided homecare through Nurse Tech, Nurse Care, St. Joseph's Hospital and also private care. Evelyn was a member of Catholic Daughters of America, St. Anthony Club and a local quilter club. She was an associate member of the Benedictine Sisters of Richardton and served as an officer in the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She will also be remembered for her generous sharing of her famous caramel popcorn.

Evelyn is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Magdalena Herold; Angeline "Angie" Nuss; brother, Joseph "Joe" Herold sisters and brothers-in-law, Katherine (John) Wanner, Frances (Bob) Lawrence, Elizabeth "Betty" (Lloyd) Gerber/(Tom) Hammel; Regina (Mike) Reindel, Rose Marie (Roy) Carlson, Magdalen "Maggie" (Martin) Kuhn; brothers and sisters-in-law, George (Victoria) Herold, John (Pauline) Herold; and brother-in-law, James Nuss; sister-in-law, Phyllis Herold.
