Liturgy of the Word service for Gerald “Jerry” Weber, 98, of Dickinson, will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 11, 2025 at Stevenson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the Dickinson American Legion Post #3 Honor Guard.
Gerald peacefully passed away at his residence on Friday, July 4, 2025.
Gerald Orrin Weber was born in Palmer, Nebraska on October 27, 1926, the son of William and Mary (Geherty) Weber. Growing up in Nebraska, he spent time helping his family with driving tractor and horse teams for plowing and harvesting. He also cared for the livestock and fowl. Jerry was a high school graduate of 1944. He entered the military for active duty with the US Army from 1946-1949, honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant. He also served in the Reserve Corp. from 1950-1953. Jerry traveled the United States and spent time in Oregon, California, Washington, and also in Panama. He then began his career as a communications technician for Northwestern Bell, working throughout southwestern North Dakota. While working in Dickinson, Jerry met Annabelle Schmalz. They fell in love and were married on November 1, 1954 in Killdeer. Their marriage was blessed with three children- Greg, Russ, and Sharon, who they proudly raised with twelve years of Catholic schooling. Jerry and Annabelle spent many joyful years of activities together, including hunting, fishing, camping, helping family at the farm and bowling league. They especially enjoyed time at their lake place. Jerry also had an interest in semipro softball, home construction and electrical. He was a member of American Legion, Elks, NRA, and a member of the Communication Workers of America Union in the 60’s – 70’s. Jerry’s life was well-lived. Family has always been Jerry’s most important asset in life. He was always a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 70 years, Annabelle; sons, Greg (Barbara) Weber of Grand Forks, Russ (Rhonda) Weber of Dickinson; daughter, Sharon (Tony) Allen of Andover, MN; nine grandchildren -Christi (Ryan), Tiffani (Tim), Shane (Kayla), Tonya (Adam), Samantha (Scott), Kevin, Tracey (Analisa), Stacie, Tyler; 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Elma (Harold) Campbell, Grace (Osvil) Glynn, Donald (Mary) Weber, Lynn (Anna) Weber, Dorothy (Warren) Hockman.
