Funeral services for Gloria Hepperle, 88 of Baker will be 10:00 am Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at the American Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Bonnievale Cemetery.
Family Receiving Friends will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker.
Gloria passed away on June 18, 2025 at the Fallon Medical Complex in Baker.
Gloria Mae Hepperle was born on May 22, 1937 to Edwin and Sadie (Ellenbaum) Hartse at Carlyle in rural southeastern Montana. She grew up in Carlyle, attended country schools in the area, and later in Baker, graduating from Baker High School in 1955. After high school she married the love of her life, Carl Hepperle, on August 12, 1955 in Baker. Together they made their home there and raised their children Susan, Andy and Fred.
Gloria was proudly known as the “Avon Lady” for over 40 years serving her friends, family and community. She excelled in her business earning many awards over the years. Faith was very important to Gloria as she was an active member of the American Lutheran Church teaching the young in Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School. She was a member of the Ladies Circle groups and shared her popular lemon meringue pies at the American Lutheran Church fair booth for over 45 years. Gloria was active in community clubs such as JC Janes and Red Hats Club. Some of Gloria's pastimes were baking, crocheting, embroidery, crossword puzzles, and watching “Wheel of Fortune.” She won several blue or grand championship ribbons at the County Fair for her beautiful embroidery. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her tremendous joy and she loved spending time with them.
Gloria is survived by and greatly loved by her husband of almost 70 years, Carl Hepperle; daughter, Susan (Keith) Mettler of Beulah, ND; sons, Andy (special friend Charlie McKenzie) Hepperle of Baker, and Fred Hepperle of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Karl (Heidi) Mettler, Sam (Lacey) Mettler, Sarah (Steven) Tristan; great grandchildren, Lily (Michael) Gerhart, Isaac Mettler, Maggie Mettler, Harper Mettler, Gabriella Mettler, Layla Mettler-Tristan, Noah Mettler-Tristan; and sister, Irene (Chet) Grenstiner-Sherman.
She is preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Sadie Hartse; brother, Marion Hartse; and sister, Evelyn Hartse-Morrison.
