Helen passed away Sunday, August 3, 2025 at her home in Dickinson.

Helen Mary was born on July 17, 1941, in Herreid, South Dakota, to Michael and Mary (Wiesbeck) Brandner. She attended St. Liborius Catholic School, where she met her high school sweetheart, John Wieseler. The two attended prom together, beginning their courtship as John enlisted in the United States Army.

After high school, Helen returned to her family farm. For the next ten years, they kept in touch with John through handwritten letters. On May 1, 1971, Helen and John were united in marriage.

They made their home in Denver, Colorado, for six years, where their sons John and Shane were born. The family later moved to Hazen, North Dakota, where they welcomed Justin and Sabrina. Helen devoted her early years to raising her children. Once they were all in school, she began working in the Hazen public schools as a custodian, which she took great pride in and genuinely enjoyed watching all the children grow over the years. This also allowed her to be a big part of her children’s lives including spending many, many, many hours on bleachers cheering loudly, spitting seeds, taking pictures, and washing uniforms. When Helen wasn’t caring for her family, she could be found with her flowers, her puzzles, watching her favorite soap opera’s, or browsing the garage sales.

Helen and John lived in Hazen for 38 years before relocating to Dickinson to be closer to their daughter. During the last three years, they became members of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Helen's undying strength, faith and true love for Jesus held her family throughout life, and now she can rest in heaven where her heart has always been.

Helen is survived by her husband of 54 years, John of Dickinson; sons, John of Harwood, ND, Shane of Pelican Rapids, MN, Justin (Eva) of Minot, ND; daughter, Sabrina Wieseler of Dickinson; grandchildren, Isabelle, Beckett, Logan, and Hayden; brother, Michael Brandner of Alaska; sisters, Ellen Paul of Pierre, South Dakota, Carmen Aberle of Herreid, South Dakota, Bernice (Ron) Zarembinski of Colorado.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Mary; and siblings, Dean, Jim, and Mary.
