Henry passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2025, at CHI St. Alexius Hospital, Dickinson.

Henry Herbert Zahn III was born May 16, 1955, in Dickinson, the son of Henry Zahn Jr. and Mavis (Klusman) Zahn. He grew up in New England graduating from New England High School. He attended Bismarck Junior College before returning home to New England, where he began farming and ranching. Henry proudly farmed alongside his brother, Tom, from 1978 until 2003. After retiring from farming, Henry and Tom continued working together through their seed, ag, chem and soil sampling business, a partnership Henry truly valued. Henry worked as a tax preparer with Insurance for twenty plus years alongside Buck Streibel and Gary Jung.

Henry was actively involved in the Boy Scouts for many years and proudly served as a Scout Master. During his time in the boy scouts, he became an Eagle Scout. On March 9, 1982, Henry married the love of his life, Wendy Olson, and together they raised their three children: Jason, Jessie, and Josie. Henry deeply loved his family and especially cherished his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

Henry was dedicated to his community. He served as a board member of the New England Rural Fire District, the New England Township and Slope Electric Cooperative, volunteered with the New England Ambulance, and was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge and Elks Lodge #1137.

Henry enjoyed the simple and meaningful things in life-fishing, shooting trap, woodworking, being outdoors, and always keeping busy building or fixing something. He had a deep love for agriculture, his community, and the life he built with his family.

Henry is survived by his wife, Wendy; his children, Jason Zahn, Jessie Zahn, and Josie (Pat) Schaefer; mother, Mavis Zahn; brother, Tom Zahn; and his beloved grandchildren, Faith Zahn, Channing Huether, Skye Henderson, Chase Henderson, Collin Cunningham, Zachary Herold, and great-granddaughter Maevry Wilmer.

He was preceded in death by his father Henry Zahn Jr.

Henry will be remembered for his devotion to family, his work ethic, his community service, and his generous heart.
