A Funeral Service for Irene Kottre, Glen Ullin, will be 10:30 a.m. CDT, Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Evangelical Congregational Church, Glen Ullin with Pastor William Bedsole officiating. Burial will take place in the Glen Ullin Cemetery.
Visitation for Irene will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. CDT. Monday, April 10, at the Evangelical Congregational Church, Glen Ullin.
Irene passed away Friday, April 07, 2017 at the Marian Manor HealthCare Center, Glen Ullin, ND.
Irene was born on the family farm in Mercer County, to Joseph and Selma (Kinnischtzke) Kottre. She grew up on the homestead, north of Glen Ullin, and attended country school. She attended Dickinson College, and graduated with a Teaching Certificate from Minot Teachers College. Irene taught at a rural school north of Glen Ullin for several years and at schools in Rawlins WY, Judson ND, and at Mary Stark Elementary School, Mandan ND, before retiring in 1991. Following retirement, Irene moved back home to Glen Ullin where she had resided since.
Irene enjoyed reading the Bible and Christian books, doing puzzles, embroidering dish towels, watching western movies, driving through the country side, listening to old-time music, and playing the piano. Her nieces, nephews and former students meant the world to her.
Irene was a member of the Education Association, St John’s Church, Hebron ND, and the Evangelical Congregational Church, Glen Ullin ND.
Irene is survived by her sister, Kathleen (Richard) Roth; sisters-in-law, Delaine Kottre and Linda Kottre all of Glen Ullin, Ernest Hellman of Glen Ullin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lenora; brothers, Jerome, Oliver and Ivan, niece Loris Wetzel, nephew Courtney Roth and grandnephew, Chris Heupel.
