Ivela Jahner

Funeral Mass for Ivela Jahner, 96, of Dickinson, will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson. Burial will take place at 1 p.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan.

Visitation for Ivela will be 5 p.m. - 7 p.m., Monday, August 3, 2026 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m.

Ivela passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at her home in Dickinson.

Ivela Jahner was born on May 30, 1930, in Dickinson, North Dakota, to Peter and Anna (Weinschrott) Kolling. She spent her early childhood in Gladstone before her family moved to Dickinson when she was ten years old.

Ivela graduated from Dickinson Central High School in 1948 and began her career at Liberty National Bank. It was during this time that she met and married, Leo Jahner. Together they were blessed with four children. While raising their family, Ivela worked with Leo in the family business, Jahner Masonry.

Ivela had a wonderful zest for life and was known for her independent spirit and unmistakable spunk. She enjoyed golfing with Leo and friends, treasured Tuesday afternoon coffee gatherings, and looked forward to Saturday morning visits with the many dear friendships she cultivated over the years. Knitting was one of her greatest hobbies, and she spent countless hours making dishcloths for family and friends, a pastime she enjoyed until her very last day. Ivela also enjoyed walking with friends, reading, jigsaw puzzles, playing board games, bridge, and pinochle.

She was also well known throughout the community for making homemade wedding cookies and sandwiches for weddings and special occasions. Through that work, she was able to fund many memorable trips and adventures with her close friends, creating cherished memories along the way.

A faithful member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Ivela shared her time by serving as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Catholic Daughters for many years. She also volunteered at the local hospital, where she became affectionately known as the "Popcorn Lady."

Family was at the center of Ivela's life. She hosted Christmas each year, making sure every member of the family had a stocking waiting for them. Ivela was an avid supporter of her children, grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren and she loved attending their many activities and sporting events.

Ivela is survived by her children, Tom (Pam) Jahner, Jim (Kari) Jahner, Nancy (Steve) Kienzle, and Peggy (Matt) Perila; her grandchildren, Dana (Matt) Lonn, Natalie (Jamon) Lonnberg, Lauren (Ryan) Freeman, Mitch Perila, Rachel (Hunter) Walsh, and Willy (Ashlee) Jahner; and her great-grandchildren, Bennet Lonn, Annika Lonn, Jax Lonnberg, Hattie Lonnberg, Leo Jahner, Witt Walsh, and Lewis Walsh; her sister-in-law Mary Ann (Bob) Anner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Jahner; her parents, Peter and Anna (Weinschrott) Kolling; and her siblings, Lena Ganzer, Mary Sadowsky, Joe Kolling, Frank Kolling, Gene Kolling, and Pete Kolling.

Family requests that memorials be given to Dickinson Catholic Schools.
