James Powell

Private Graveside Rites for James Henry Powell Sr., 80, of Ekalaka will be held at a later date in the Beaver Lodge Cemetery in Ekalaka.

Cremation has taken place with the Stevenson Funeral Home of Ekalaka.

James passed away at his home in Ekalaka on Thursday, October 21, 2021.

James was born to Harry and Thea (Nies) Powell in Ekalaka, MT on November 9, 1940. He and his siblings were raised in Ekalaka. James enjoyed the ranch life so spent much of his life working the different aspects of the ranch.
James is survived by his brother Edward “Bud” (Stella) Powell of Ekalaka, MT; sisters, Sue (Johnny) Breding and Thea “Lane” (Wayne) Buck; children, Douglas Scott Powell Baird, Candice Powell, James Henry Powell, Jr., Mira Carrier, Wendy Barkley, Linda Xayasith, and Mollie Powell; four granddaughters and four grandsons.

Preceded in death by parents, Harry and Thea Powell; grandparents, Frank and Clara Nies, Effie and Orie Strain.
