Jerome passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, having lived a long and full life packed with love, laughter, and just the right number of wheels on his furniture.

He was reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Clemy, with whom he shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built not only a beautiful family but a home filled with warmth, sawdust, and the irresistible smell of something baking in the oven.

He found delight in turning the ordinary into something smarter, easier, or simply more fun. Adding wheels to furniture for effortless movement, inventing clever household fixes, crafting cheerful wooden lawn ornaments painted in every color of the rainbow—he approached everything with a blend of practicality, creativity, and a wink of whimsy. Nothing stayed plain for long in his world; if he could improve it, brighten it, or bring a smile with it, he did!

He had a passion for cooking and baking, and was known for his legendary Christmas cheer—a family tradition that warmed hearts (and probably raised a few eyebrows). He delighted grandkids with grout (kraut) nip and German schupfnudeln, caramel rolls, kuchen, and many other traditional German foods. He always cooked with love and a healthy dash of creativity!

Later in life, he embraced new creative outlets with the same enthusiasm. At age 87, he picked up a paintbrush and added color to St Benedicts Court. The halls were soon filled with his bold, joyfully colorful artwork, displayed for all to enjoy.

Music was a lifelong companion for Jerome, woven into the fabric of his days. He played multiple instruments with ease, always ready to share a tune. With his harmonica in hand, he shared music freely—those fortunate enough to hear him knew it came from a place of pure joy. His beloved classic country music was the soundtrack of his life—still playing, softly and sweetly, up to his very last moments.

Jerome was the proud father of six children, and his legacy continues through his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored. His love for family was at the core of everything he did, and his playful spirit, stories, and kindness will live on through them.

He leaves behind a family filled with gratitude, memories, and maybe a few rolling chairs! His family was his masterpiece—each member a brushstroke in a life painted with purpose, humor, and love. In his honor, fix something that’s broken, bake something from scratch, or raise a glass of Christmas cheer to toast a life well lived!

Jerome is survived by his children; Pam (Ray) Kilwein, Rita (Steve) Ries, Maynard (Shari) Schwindt, Sharon (Terry) McCloud, and Scott (Robbin) Schwindt. He was also blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and son, Gregory.

Jerome taught us all to stay curious, stay useful, and never be afraid to add a little color (or a few wheels) to the world around us!
