John Sr. passed away August 9, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.

John Sr. was born on November 21, 1948 to Matthias and Martha (Borgman) Hutzenbiler. He grew up south of Belfield and attended country school through the 8th grade. He worked on the family farm until he left for the Navy (Seabees) in 1968, serving in Vietnam. On November 5, 1968 he married the love of his life La-Donna Urban, in Ventura, CA. After his discharge on February 12, 1970 in CA, they moved to Belfield where they made their home. To the union of this marriage, Sharon, John Jr., Paul, Angel, Crystal, Tonya, and Nicole were born. He worked in road construction, and owned a custom combine business until he found his true passion of being an over-the-road truck driver. John worked for several trucking companies until owning his own Hutzenbiler & Sons Trucking later changing the name to J&L Trucking. He loved being in the shop critiquing Little Johns work. He enjoyed giving special nicknames to everyone that he loved. His specialty was spoiling his grandkids and great-grandchildren! Taking care of his horses, fishing, camping, watching westerns also was an enjoyment! He was especially happy with all the hard work he put into his flowers, trees, and cooking that Donna did and he took credit for. John took pride in being Ericka and Lisa’s Godfather. There was never a present that he was not happy with and if you showed up empty handed he would remind you about it. He especially loved being pampered by his daughters and family. His booming laugh and great sense of humor is something that will be with all of us forever! He will be forever loved and missed by all!

In lieu of flowers the family recommends memorials to the Belfield American Legion, Wounded Warrior, or Make-A-Wish.

John Sr. is survived by his wife La-Donna/Ole Girl; children, John Jr/Grizzly (Jenilee) Hutzenbiler, Paul/Scooby (Karen) Hutzenbiler, Crystal/Mother Hen (Chad) Calkins, Tonya/Nurse Betty (Eric) Olmstead, Nicole/Ugly Baby (Nathan) Fisher; 27 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bertha (David) Urban, Mary Havemeier, Kathy (Harold) Freier, Louis (Debra) Hutzenbiler, Kenneth (Sheryl) Hutzenbiler, Tom Hutzenbiler, Brenda (Ricky) Sarsland, Julie (Mitch) Ingman, Karen (David) Rodakowski; aunt, Shirley Borgman; and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.
