Funeral Mass for Joseph J. ?Joe? Wegh, 77, will be held at 10:00 a. m. , Monday, June 7, 2010, at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Dickinson. Burial will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Lefor. Visitation will be from 12:00 p. m. to 9:00 pm. , Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 p. m. Joe passed away Thursday, June 3, 2010, at his home in Dickinson after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Joe was born April 22, 1933, to John and Anna (Laches) Wegh in Regent, ND. As a young boy, he grew up and attended country school in rural Regent. On July 8, 1954 Joe enlisted in the U. S. Army and served overseas in Germany as a truck driver. He also served at Camp Stauret Georgia as a tractor scraper operator. Joe earned the National Defense Service Medal for good conduct during his time of service and was honorably discharged on May 22, 1956. Joe married Lillian Havelka on June 3, 1957 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec, ND. To this union, four children were born: Doug, Dennis, Lori and Dale. Lillian passed away on December 26, 1997. On July 7, 2000 Joe married Clementine Hendricks at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Dickinson. He spent his life as a farmer/rancher on the family farm northeast of Regent and also drove school bus for Regent Public School. Joe was a member of St. Elizabeth?s Catholic Church in Lefor, the Eagles, Knights of Columbus, VFW, St. Pius Verein, and St. Anthony Club. Joe enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle and being with his family and grandchildren. Surviving family members include his wife, Clementine; four children: Doug (JoAnn) Wegh, Mott, ND, Dennis (LoAnn) Wegh, Regent, ND, Lori (Jerry) Maday, Worcester, MA and Dale (Penny) Wegh, Mott, ND; two step-children, Ralph Kenneth (Akemi) Hendricks, New Jersey and Ronald Lee (Aleta) Hendricks, Dickinson, ND; one brother, Nick A. (Mildred) Wegh, Dickinson, ND; eight grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lillian and a granddaughter, Hope April Wegh.
