Grassy Butte

Graveside service for Judith Wright, 86, of Grassy Butte, will be 3:00 pm, Thursday, September 10, 2026 at the Grassy Butte Cemetery with Pastor Katie Rodriguez officiating.

Judith passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at Hill Top Home of Comfort in Killdeer.

Judith Ann was born in Dickinson on July 21, 1940, the daughter of Denver and Beryl (Miller) Marucheck. She grew up on the family ranch west of Grassy Butte and also attended school in Grassy Butte. At an early age, Judy was married to Bruce Northrop on December 14, 1956. The couple made their home in Grassy Butte, Medora, Hettinger and later Dickinson. To this union two sons, Dean and Doug, were born. Judy and Bruce later divorced. She then made a move to Kentucky and later came to West Yellowstone in Montana. On March 16, 1974, Judy married Perry Glenn Wright and they made their home on the family ranch south of Arnegard, ND. This marriage grew their family with Glenn's three sons Tim, Brian and Nathan. Judy and Glenn adopted their only daughter, Deidre in 1979. Following their divorce, Judy moved into Watford City and worked a variety of jobs to stay busy. It was here where Judy met Carroll Tollefson, becoming very good partners enjoying their "second half of life" years. Together they were blessed to enjoy traveling together and camping, watching rodeos and raising several little companion dogs that they both doted on. Judy and Carroll remained together until the time her declining health required a move to Killdeer.

Judy is survived by her long-time partner Carroll Tollefson of Watford City; daughter, Deidre (Jay) Reems of Killdeer; sons, Dean (Mary) Northrop of Beach, Doug Northrop of Des Moines, IA; step-sons, Tim Wright of Williston, Brian (Lori) Wright of Keene, Nathan Wright of OR; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Denver & Beryl Marucheck; first husband, Bruce Northrop; and her sister, Linda Kennedy.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Hill Top Home of Comfort of Killdeer.
