A celebration of life will be held for our mom/wife/grandma, Kathleen Freeman, 55, of Dickinson, formerly of Burwell, NE, on September 24, 2026 in Grand Island, NE from 11-2 pm at the Stolley Park (2103 W Stolley Park Rd). We will be celebrating her 56th heavenly birthday.
She will be laid to rest at Kent Cemetery located in Burwell, NE next to her mom/dad this will follow the gathering at the park for her.
Kathy passed away Thursday, September 10, 2026 at her home in Dickinson.
Kathy was born September 24, 1970, in Burwell, Nebraska, the daughter of Harley and Ina (Weston) Jurgensen. She grew up in Burwell and graduated from Burwell High School in 1988.
Throughout the years, Kathy worked in care homes in the area and also spent many years helping care for her mother. She was blessed with two children, Cameron and Christina, who brought much joy to her life.
Kathy married Eugene "Gene" Freeman on May 30, 2015. Together, they shared a life filled with plenty of laughter and good-natured teasing. Kathy especially enjoyed giving Gene a hard time and rarely missed an opportunity to tease those she loved most. In 2022, Kathy and Gene moved to Glendive before making their home in Dickinson in 2023.
Kathy was creative and crafty and always seemed to have something she was working on. She enjoyed diamond painting, coloring, creating things, and spending time in her garden, especially tending to her roses. She had a special love for boxer dogs, unicorns, Highland cattle and was also fond of Scooby-Doo.
Anyone who knew Kathy knew she loved to shop. Her collection of clothes and shoes seemed never-ending, and she took great pride in keeping everything just right. Shopping was even better when it meant finding something special for one of her grandchildren, whom she loved to spoil every chance she had.
Kathy had a playful personality and loved teasing those around her. No matter what life brought her way, Kathy seemed to arrive with a smile on her face and a positive attitude. She was strong, outgoing, and never had trouble making herself known or heard wherever she went. Her happiness, strength, and unmistakable personality will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Eugene Freeman of Dickinson; her son, Cameron of Grand Island, Nebraska; her daughter, Christina (Ezekiel) Beeber of Dickinson; her grandchildren, Alyssa, Zaiden, Zaxston, Zeven, and Zedekiah; and brother, Ron (Tammy) Jurgensen of Hastings, Nebraska.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Ina Jurgensen; and grandchildren, Amelia and Alexander.
