Kathleen "Kathy" Schirado

Funeral Mass for Kathleen Schirado, 80, of Glen Ullin will be at 11:00 a.m., CT, Friday, February 4, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Gary Benz celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Clement’s Cemetery in Haymarsh.

Visitation for Kathy will be from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Thursday, February 3, 2022 at the church with a rosary and vigil being held at 6:00 p.m.

Kathy passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

Kathy (Kastner) Schirado was born February 26, 1941 in Hebron, ND, to William and Mary (Martin) Kastner. She attended St. Clement’s Elementary School and graduated from Glen Ullin High School in 1958. Kathy was united in marriage to Thomas (Clinney) Schirado on February 10, 1961 in Bismarck ND. They made their home in Glen Ullin. Kathy was employed by Nash Finch Co. in Bismarck, the City of Glen Ullin’s water billing department, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church as Director of Religious Education. She had a servant’s heart. Kathy loved the Lord and enjoyed her time spent at the church working with people in various roles. Her faith was never stagnant, always ever-growing and shining for others. Kathy spent countless hours preserving the history of Glen Ullin as a member of their Historical Society. She was a jack of all trades and enjoyed painting, refurbishing furniture and even laying carpet. Kathy was an avid bird watcher, salsa maker, rhubarb recipe trier and a crocheter of hanging hand towels. Her presence will be missed.

Kathy is survived by her children, William Schirado, Plymouth MN, Lisa (Mike) Daoust, Minneapolis, MN, Laurie (Scott) Charette, Grand Forks, ND, Carrie (David) Schirado, Glen Ullin, ND; grandchildren, Derrick (Kristen) Duppong, Lindsey and Thomas Schirado, Olivia and Autumn Charette and great-granddaughter, Paisley Duppong.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary; husband, Thomas (Clinney) Schirado; sister, Shirley; brother, William; and son, David.
