Levi lost a long battle with alcoholism on Thursday, September 24, 2026, in Linton, ND.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in Levi's name to the Dickinson State University Foundation for an Ag/Rodeo Scholarship, 230 8th Ave. W., Dickinson, ND 58601, or to the Home on the Range Champion Ride, 16351 I-94, Sentinel Butte, ND 58654.

Levi was born May 19, 1979, in Dickinson, North Dakota, the son of Bruce and Dawn (Kruckenberg) Wolf. He grew up in the Dodge and Killdeer area, was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith, and graduated from Killdeer High School in 1997.

From the time he was a little boy, Levi loved the cowboy way of life. He shared a special bond with his Grandpa Norman and spent countless days tagging along with him, whether working in the field or simply going about the day's work. Levi was rarely without a rope in his hand, swinging it wherever he went. Grandpa Norman's love for saddle bronc riding soon became Levi's love as well.

Of all Levi accomplished and experienced in his life, he was especially proud of his children, Alyssa and Chase. Through the good years and the difficult ones, his love for his family remained an important part of who he was.

Levi wrestled as a young boy before finding his true passion in rodeo. Throughout his younger years, he competed in countless rodeos. During high school, Levi competed in saddle bronc riding, earning three trips to the NHSFR. After graduation, he attended Dickinson State University and was a member of the rodeo team.

Rodeo remained an important part of Levi's life for many years. He competed in NPRA, NDRA, RRA, and PRCA and eventually earned his professional rodeo card. Whether saddle bronc riding or team roping, Levi was at home in the arena, earning numerous saddles and buckles along the way.

Among his proudest accomplishments was winning the saddle bronc championship at the Days of '76 Rodeo in Deadwood, South Dakota, in 2001. Levi also won NDRA saddle bronc championships in 1998, 2003, 2004, and 2005. His dad, Bruce, was incredibly proud of Levi and his rodeo accomplishments. Rodeo also brought many friendships into Levi's life, and those friendships remained important to him through the years.

Levi ranched for a number of years before beginning a career in truck driving. He later worked in the oilfield and spent several years operating his own trucking business alongside his dad and brother, Luke. Levi could visit with anyone about anything, which made him a natural truck driver and an especially good traveling partner.

When he wasn't working or rodeoing, Levi enjoyed hunting, fishing, listening to country music, and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings with his little buddy Chase. He found a particular sense of peace on the back of a horse, especially riding the hills around Dodge and through the Killdeer Mountains.

Levi had a fun-loving, mischievous side and enjoyed a good prank. He loved making people laugh, teasing family and friends, and bringing a little trouble-and plenty of stories-to family gatherings. Those who knew Levi well will undoubtedly have a story that still makes them smile.

Levi will be remembered as a cowboy at heart, a hardworking man, a storyteller and traveling companion, a country music fan, a prankster, and someone who could strike up a conversation with nearly anyone. His struggle with alcoholism was a difficult part of his story, but it was only one part of a life filled with family, rodeo, horses, hard work, laughter, music, and people who loved him deeply.

Levi is survived by his children, Alyssa Buckman (fiancé Carson Massey) and Chase Wolf; mother, Dawn Wolf (Butch Dressler); brother, Luke Wolf; nephew and niece, Sutton and Rowan; grandma, Madella (Kruckenberg) Brinkman (husband, Curt); aunts and uncles, Jackie (Rich) Bolton, Jeri (Perry) Braunagel, Vickie (Wylie) Bice, Debbie (Dean) Rodne, Corrine Fisher, Donald (Marlys) Wolf, and Donna Weidner; along with numerous cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce Wolf; grandpas, Norman Kruckenberg and Herbert Wolf; grandma Frieda Wolf; and uncles, Alvin Weidner and Dale Fisher.
