Margaret Marie Ridl was born in Dickinson, ND on August 14, 1938, the daughter to Henry and Minnie (Pavlicek) Ridl. As a young girl she attended Ash Coulee School through the eighth grade. Margaret married Anton "Tony" Heidt on July 19, 1972 in Dickinson. Their marriage was blessed with daughter, Diane. Margaret worked for a short time at Woolworth’s, before taking on her lifetime career of ‘school cook’. She is well remembered in the South Heart community as the lunchroom cook, serving with a smile, kindness, and a true dedication. Margaret nourished many children in her 34 years of cooking service (1979-2013). She loved cooking and baking (family holiday celebrations were not complete without her Kolache and Christmas stars), gardening and shopping. She was a superfan of “Days of Our Lives”, and enjoyed playing cards and having coffee with her friends. Margaret cherished time she was able to spend with her family, but most importantly her granddaughter, Izzy. She was a valued member of South Heart St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Diane (Matt) Schutts of Plymouth, MN; granddaughter, Izzy Schutts; brother, Ed (Jean) Ridl; sisters, Shirley (Ron) Lisko, Angie (Leon) Buckhouse all of Dickinson; sister-in-law, Betty Heidt of Dickinson; as well as nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Minnie Ridl; husband, Anton “Tony” Heidt (1984); brothers-in-law, John (Maxine) Heidt, Fred Heidt, Larry (Helen) Heidt, Paul Heidt; sisters-in-law, Katie (Frank) Eberts, Jennie (Steven) Vida, Clara (Bill) Wendel, Elaine (Val) Splichal.
