MargueriteJeannine Hudson was born May 1, 1929 in Baker, MT, the daughter of Bert and Evelyn Carol (Stark) Hudson. She grew up and attended school in Ollie, MT, graduating with the last class from Ollie High School in 1948. Following graduation, Marguerite went on to attend Billings Normal School where she received her teaching certificate. Marguerite moved to Golden Valley County in ND and began teaching at the Bull Run Country School. While attending a family friend’s wedding, she met Sam Fisher who later became her husband. The couple was united in marriage on May 27, 1948 in Ollie, MT, at the EUB Church. To this union five children were born: Sandra, Judy, Beverly, Rosanne, and Rick. Together, Marguerite and Sam raised their family and farmed in the Ollie/Carlyle community.

Marguerite, or Gran, as she was called by her family and many friends, was very talented at many things. She was a seamstress and made clothes for all her children. She was an excellent cook and baker, setting aside every Thursday as her day to bake and welcoming any extras who would stop by for a visit. She enjoyed spending time in her garden, canning her produce and raising chickens and butchering them. In 1970, the couple moved to Baker and have made it their home ever since. Sam passed away in June 2008.

Marguerite worked at Fallon Medical Complex as a Dietary Aide. She was known for her artistic party trays decorated with goodies, and making delicious dishes from her very own recipe box. She had many hobbies which included creating baby blankets, Christmas bells and pot holders for family and friends. Marguerite loved to work in the nursing home flower beds and was always willing to pull weeds or help get things watered. She remained active and energetic well into her 80’s working alongside her children and grandchildren. She loved them all and especially loved to write and read cowboy poetry to them. Marguerite traveled to many countries throughout her lifetime and had many exciting and interesting tales to tell.

Marguerite is survived by her son, Rick (Rosella) Fisher of Glendive; daughters, Sandra (Curt) Ehman of San Antonio, TX, Judy (Greg) Gunderson of Baker, Beverly (Delane) Rath of Baker, Rosanne (Rusty Irion) Rieger of Miles City; a sister, Dolores Veroye of Baker; sister-in-law, JoAnn Hudson of Livingston; 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild to arrive in March 2019, and a host of friends.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Carol Hudson; husband, Sam Fisher; a brother, Delbert Hudson; sister and brother-in-law, Myrtle and Lyle Stanhope; and brother-in-law, LaVern “Bony” Veroye.
