Marion died February 13, 2024 at Edgewood Hawks Point assisted living facility in Dickinson, ND.
Marion was born May 16, 1923 in Elko, MN and graduated from New Prague, MN, High School in 1940. She worked in the Lakeville Creamery with a future brother-in-law who would introduce her to his brother-in-law, Lyle V. Erickson. Lyle and Marion married on November 17, 1960. They farmed and ranched in Slope County, near Amidon, ND, and remained on the farm after retirement. Marion moved to Edgewood Hawks Point assisted living facility in Dickinson in 2020.
She was very active in her community teaching Sunday School, contributing to Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church women’s groups, supporting New England Public High School activities, and participating in the Peaceful Valley Township Kil Kare Homemakers Klub.
A devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, Marion enjoyed writing, reading, current events, community history, staying connected with friends, and travelling with her family. She was a ‘hostess-with-the-mostest’ entertaining family and friends from near and far, and giving many community bridal and baby showers. Her beautiful, personal, handwritten letters were a true gift from her heart.
Survived by one daughter, Pam Erickson (husband Steve Stroncek) of Edina, MN; and three brothers, Roger Tonsager of Hastings, MN, David Tonsager of Oakdale, MN and Wayne Tonsager of Lakeville, MN.
Preceded in death by her parents, Martin O. and Luella M. (Anderson) Tonsager; her husband, Lyle V. Erickson (married November 17, 1960); and brothers, Raymond Tonsager and Donald Tonsager.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in New England, Southwest Public Transit in Bowman, or an organization of your choosing.
