Funeral Mass for Mark S. Gietzen, 69, of Wichita, Kansas, formerly of Glen Ullin, will be 10:00 am CT, Saturday, May 27, 2023 at St. Clement’s Catholic Church in Haymarsh with Father Gary Benz celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Clement’s Cemetery. A meal will be served following burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Visitation for Mark will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm CT, Friday, May 26, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin, during which there will be a meal served. There will be a rosary and prayer service being held at 6:00 pm. Immediately following the rosary and prayer service, there will be an overnight vigil at St. Clement’s Catholic Church in Haymarsh.

Mark S. Gietzen, a devoted advocate for the rights of unborn babies, patriot, and adventurer of the globe, tragically lost his life while piloting a Cessna on May 14, 2023.

Born on Feb 9, 1954, Mark lived a life committed to making a positive impact on society. His untimely passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Mark was one of 15 children born to William F and Mary Gietzen who are: William Russell, Glenn & Gene (twins, Gene deceased), Mary Kay (deceased), Margaret, himself, Greg, James (deceased), Anna Brown, Aaron, Hilary, Virginia Saiki, Peter, Catherine Holle, and Fred

Mark served as a US Marine Corps Embassy Guard, circling the Earth and gathering many diverse experiences which he shared with others.

Following his honorable service, Mark wholeheartedly pursued his passion for aviation. Acquiring his first small plane, he embarked on a journey of learning to fly. Determined to enhance his skills and knowledge, Mark graduated from the esteemed Spartan School of Aeronautics. His dedication and expertise led him to excel in his career, as he took on roles such as a Boeing procurement quality auditor and a respected flight instructor.

Mark founded The Christian Singles Information-exchange, a service that passionately aimed to reduce the prevalence of divorce and troubled marriages throughout the United States.

He was an active member of the Kansas Republican party. As the founder and president of the Kansas Coalition for Life, Mark fought for the protection of innocent lives and championed pro-life initiatives. His unwavering commitment left an indelible mark on the Wichita, KS community and the World.

Mark is survived by Anna (daughter), John (son), Greg (son), Mary (mother), 4 grandchildren, and his siblings.
