A Funeral Mass for Mary Eva Wanner, 95, of Dickinson will be 2:00 p. m. , Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson with Father Shannon Lucht celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Dickinson. Visitation for Mary Eva will be from 4:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Rosary and Vigil service being held at 7:00 p. m. Visitation will continue from 9:00 a. m. to 1:00 p. m. on Wednesday, April 22 at the funeral home. Mary Eva passed away Thursday, April 16, 2015 at St Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson, ND. Mary Eva Kuntz was born December 8, 1919 in Hettinger County, the daughter of Martin and Wilhelmenia (Greff) Kuntz. She grew up and attended country school near Regent, ND. In order to help support her parents, Mary Eva moved to Rochester, Minnesota to work at St. Mary’s Hospital. After returning home, she went to help her aunt and uncle at their home and this is where she met Michael J. Wanner. On October 11, 1938, Mary Eva and Michael were united in marriage at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in rural Regent. Together, the couple made their home on Mike’s family homestead near Scheffield; and raised their family of six children: Toby, Dorothy, Benni, Don, Marilyn, and Emi. In 1974, they moved into Dickinson. After Michael’s death in 1988, she resided at home until 2003 when she moved into St. Benedict’s Court. Mary Eva was a devoted mother and farmwife as well as an excellent cook. She was a selfless person, caring for everyone else before herself. Her family was very dear to her. Mary Eva was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, St. Pius Verein of Scheffield, Ladies Society of Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen, the Silver Ladies Bowling League, Birthday Club and Card Club. Mary Eva was a volunteer at the ARC Aid for 12 years, and for many years at Queen of Peace Catholic Church and St. Benedict’s Nursing Home. Mary Eva is survived by her children, Dorothy (Paul) Fitterer of Dickinson, Benni (Richard) Privratsky of Dickinson, Donald (Robin) Wanner of Clinton, MT, Marilyn Reinhart of New Ulm, MN, and Emi (Mark) Brennan of Monrovia, CA; 14 grandchildren: Dave (Janie) Fitterer, Steve (Brenda) Fitterer, Cheryl (Patrick) Randall, Ryan (Monica) Privratsky, Don (Violet) Wanner, Jr. , Richmond (Amanda) Wanner, Eve Robert, Jay Steven, Tricia Steven, Shannon (Ben) Frauenholtz, Kyle Reinhart, Michael Reinhart, Chris Brennan and Sean Brennan; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters: Ann Heidt of Bismarck, Cec Jorgensen of Dickinson, and Tillie (Leo) Stein of Gladstone; and daughter-in-law, Susan Wanner of Lovell, WY. She was preceded by her husband, Michael J. ; son, Toby; daughter-in-law, Jan Wanner; son-in-law, Steve Reinhart; four brothers; and three sisters. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Dickinson Catholic Schools Foundation.
