Funeral services for Norman Rice, 84, of Marmarth, ND will be held at 11:00 am Monday, July 17, 2023 at Marmarth Bible Church with Pastor Dennis Rice and Terry Bagley officiating. Military honors will take place at Riverside Cemetery. 

Visitation will take place one hour prior to service.

Norman passed away Sunday, July 9, 2023 at his home in Marmarth, ND.

Norman Gene Rice was born July 23, 1938, son of Arthur and Mandy (Evans) Rice in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Norman grew up and attended school in Tulsa, graduating from Daniel Webster High School in 1957. Following graduation, Norman entered the U.S. Air Force and served from 1957 until 1963 when he was honorably discharged. In 1963, Norman married Beatrice Lopez in Austin, Texas. Following the service, Norman worked for the Texas Department of Mental Health & Retardation in resident management and attended the University of Texas at Austin. He later worked for the Hunter-Douglas Group as plant manager. In 1978, Norman married Loree McCormick in Golden, Colorado. Norman entered the seminary in Denver, Colorado in 1990, and following graduation he began serving churches in Aurora and Commerce City, Colorado. Norman married Vera Jean Jiles on October 31, 2006 in Denver, Colorado. Vera passed away in March of 2011. In October of 2014, Norman moved to Marmarth, North Dakota where he became the pastor at the Marmarth Bible Church. He loved traveling and was especially honored to be able to go to Jerusalem in 2015 and spend time in the holy land. He also learned to love the game of golf. Norman was a member of the Denver Ministerial Alliance of Denver, Colorado. 

Norman is survived by his children, Brenda Joan Rice (Ty McCarver), Austin, TX; Annette Denise Rice, Napa, CA; Joshua Lance Rice, Aurora, CO; Zachary Ryan Brewer, Fairfield, CA; Cassidy Symone Rice, Aurora, CO.; Vera-Selina Jiles, Joey Jiles, Michael Jiles, Nichole Jiles, Aurora, CO; fourteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Jana Rose Carlton, Ozone, AR; Darla Kay Arbaugh, Fayetteville, AR; and Pansy Margarette Rice, Ozone, AR. 

He is preceded in death by his wife, Vera Jean; daughter, Ashley Jiles; his parents, and siblings, Claude Allen Rice, Billy Lee Rice, and Karen Sue Jones.
