Funeral Mass for Ottilia “Tillie” Volesky, 95, of Dickinson, will be 10:00 am Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Dickinson with Monsignor Thomas Richter celebrating. Entombment will follow at the Dickinson Mausoleum.

Visitation for Tillie will be 4:00 – 6:00 pm Monday, May 5, 2025 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with a Rosary and Vigil service being held at 6:00 pm.

Tillie passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at CHI St. Alexius Health in Dickinson.

Tillie Volesky was born May 6, 1929 in Dunn County, the daughter of Frank and Emma (Marsh) Karsky. She grew up on the family farm in Dunn County and attended country country first grade, and New Hradec School second through eighth grade. Tillie went to Dickinson High School (Hagen) for one year. She then stayed at her home place till getting married. On October 20, 1947, Tillie was united in marriage to Robert F. Volesky at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec. To this union, five sons, Wilfred, Alvin, Kevin, Kenny, and Keith, and two daughters, Roberta and Karla were born. In 1948 they moved to a farm in Billings County. In January of 1960, they moved to a new farmstead about a mile away and farmed for the next 35 years. Tillie was a busy farmwife. Tillie and Bob retired from farming and moved to Dickinson in 1982. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, playing cards and attending the grandchildren’s activities, visiting family and friends.

Tillie was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and Catholic Workman’s. In 1993, her family received the KC Family of the Month Award.

Tillie is survived by her; two daughters, Roberta Ficek and Karla (Russ) Schank of Dickinson; five sons, Wilfred (Kathy) Volesky of Bismarck, ND, Ken (Bobbie) Volesky, Dickinson, Kevin (Brenda) Volesky, Belfield, ND, and Keith (Tami Carter) Volesky, Broomfield, CO; Daughter-in-law, Dawn Volesky, Lakehills, TX,; 19 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Ed (Gina) Karsky, Dickinson; Sisters-in-laws, Rose Marie Kovash and Gladys Volesky both of Dickinson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank & Emma Karsky; her husband, Robert; son, Alvin; son-in-law, Gordon Ficek; sister Elsie Sadowsky; brothers, Laudie, Ludwig, Otto, Frank and Albert

The family would like to thank St. Luke’s for the wonderful care they gave to Tillie for the last several years. They’d also like to thank CHI St. Alexius for being there on Tillie’s last day.
