A Memorial Service for Paul Johnson, 63, of Dickinson will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson.
Paul passed away on September 11, 2025 at St. Alexius Hospital, Bismarck, ND.
Paul was born on December 15, 1961, in Beach, ND, to Robert and Loretta (Holland) Johnson. Paul went to elementary and high school in Beach, graduating from Beach High School in 1981. After high school, Paul moved to Dickinson, ND. In 1989, on a fateful bus trip to Yellowstone National Park, Paul met the love of his life, Pam Petersen. They began dating, and Pam took him to her senior prom at Dickinson High School. Though they were never able to be legally married, there was never any question that Paul and Pam shared an unbreakable bond, parting only upon Paul's death.
While making a life with Pam, Paul always worked hard, regardless of the job. He was a maintenance worker for many years at the Hospitality Inn in Dickinson. He later went on to work for Walmart, being a jack-of-all-trades there before settling down in the produce department. He also worked at Pizza Ranch in Dickinson until his heart trouble was too much.
Though Paul and Pam were separated for a few months when Paul entered St. Benedict's Health Center in Dickinson, they were reunited when Pam was admitted in late fall of 2024. They were able to share a room until his passing.
Paul was creative and loved to work with his hands. He was very talented in woodworking, sewing, and other crafts. Paul's legacy will live on in the cherished gifts that he custom-made for his family.
Paul is survived by the love of his life, Pam Petersen; his brother Timothy Johnson, Fargo, North Dakota; his uncle Thomas Johnson, Fargo; and several cousins, including Kimberly Fugere of Dickinson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Instead of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Paul's memory.
