Randolph Lee "Randy" Martwick, 71, passed away on April 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Randy was born on October 7, 1954, in LaMoure, North Dakota, to Daniel "Bud" Martwick and Barbara (Wagner) Martwick. He graduated from Edgeley High School in 1972, where he was active in wrestling.
Randy was previously married and through this union became the proud father of his daughter, Melissa. He spent several years living in Mandan, working for the City of Mandan and at the Mandan Water Treatment Plant.
Music was one of Randy's great joys. As the lead singer of the band Smoke Stained Rose, performing alongside his brother Doug on bass guitar, they spent seven years traveling across North Dakota, South Dakota, and Montana. Those were some of his favorite years, full of music, late nights, and stories he would tell again and again.
Randy later made his home in Glen Ullin, where he lived for the past 33 years. He was an active member of the community, riding with the Glen Ullin Motorcycle Club for 16 years and proudly serving for six years on the Glen Ullin City Council. He also had a couple of part-time jobs over the years; he worked at The Other Bar, and one of his favorite jobs was working at Braun Oil. He got to be around cars and talk to people all day.
Randy had a gift for conversation; he could talk to anyone. A conversation with him often turned into a friendship, and his stories could stretch on as long as someone was willing to listen. He loved reminiscing about the "good old days", playing pinochle, hunting, fishing, talking about cars, motorcycles, music, and especially his grandchildren. He was a collector of many things who delighted in showing off his latest "treasure". Randy also had a playful sense of humor; he loved a good prank or joke and laughing, especially at his own jokes. Even if his jokes didn't always land, the way he giggled and laughed ensured everyone else would laugh along with him.
He was endlessly proud of his daughter, his son-in-law, his grandchildren, and his great-grandson. Being a grandfather was one of his greatest joys. Danielle and Joseph held a special place in his heart; they were the light of his life. He rarely missed a chance to attend their activities and often made trips to Bismarck just to spend time with them, taking them on little adventures. One of their favorite outings was to Sertoma Park, where they would walk along what they jokingly called "poop river". Danielle fondly remembers that Grandpa would always treat her and Joseph to their own large orders of fries - their parents made them share.
Randy is survived by his daughter, Melissa (Martwick) Feser and her husband, Greg, of Bismarck, ND; granddaughter Danielle (Feser) Holly, her husband, Anthony, and great-grandson Maverick Holly of Glen Ullin, ND; brothers Doug (Laurie) Martwick of Glen Ullin, ND, and Tim (Roxanne) Martwick of Coeur d'Alene, ID; sister Lisa (Martwick) Miller and her husband, Leland of Bismarck, ND; uncle David (Alvina) Martwick of McClusky, ND; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him more than words can say.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel "Bud" and Barbara (Wagner) Martwick; his beloved grandson, Joseph Feser; his nephew, Lee Martwick; his cousin, Jeff Martwick, and many aunts and uncles.
Randy leaves behind a space that can't be filled; his absence will be deeply felt, but the memories he created will live on in all who knew and loved him.
