Raymond (Ray) Diede went to his final resting place Sunday, April 26, 2026.
A private service will be held at a later date.
Ray was born to Christian Diede and Anna Ulmer in Glen Ullin, ND on September 30, 1926.
He went to country school until 8th grade. He then went to High School in Glen Ullin until his father became ill at which time he had to stay home and care for his mother and siblings. He then continued his education through correspondence to graduate in 1944.
He married Adeline Weiand at Sacred Heart Church, Glen Ullin on December 30, 1955. Adeline and Ray enjoyed 60 years together until she passed in 2016.
Ray's work ethic was second to none! He wasn't afraid of work and was willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed. Ray was a very talented carpenter and built many of the original cabins at Lake Tschida and many of the homes here in Glen Ullin. He was very meticulous in his work and would spend the extra time to make sure it was done right. He spent his whole life farming and ranching the land he was raised and grew up on. He enjoyed farming the most and once retired loved helping Terry & Patty on the farm and later on helping Ty.
Ray loved to fish and spent most of his free time fishing; he especially enjoyed his time fishing with Will and his grandkids whenever possible. He also enjoyed many fishing trips to Canada and Alaska with family and friends.
Ray was very selfless and generous, always there for you when you needed him with no questions asked. He always put others first and never expected anything in return. He was a great teacher and mentor to all of us and we are going to miss him dearly.
In his younger years, Ray was a member of the Glen Ullin Fire Department and the Glen Ullin Lions Club.
Blessed to have shared his life are his daughters, Patty (Terry) Duppong, Glen Ullin; Susan (Randy) Roemmich, Fargo; son, William (Tracy) Diede, Fargo. He was blessed with 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. His sister, Lou Burd, CA; brother-in-law, Gary Weiand; brother and sister-in-law, Allan and MaryAnn Weiand.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Adeline; his parents, Christian and Anna; his brothers, Clarence (Betty), Robert (Helen), and Marvin (Dee); his sisters, Irene (Jack) Young, Pat (Gene) Robinson, and Alice. His sisters-in-law, Janice Donoghue, Joan Weiand and Cora Weiand. Brothers-in-law, Steve Donoghue and Peter Burd. Father and mother-in-law, Edmund and Anna Weiand.
